Generally speaking: Which is better - Aquos or Bravia?

Just the standard bravia, in fact entry...no XBRs. I was told the Aquos mop all Bravias in terms of PQ hands down and come close to XBRs, is that true? If so, thenI shouldnt even be considering the Bravia.

37'' Aquos $1500cdn
40'' S200A Bravia $1668cdn

I would get a Sammy, but lack of 1:1 pixel mapping and it didnt even display my PC entirely. Also in PC it was kinda blurry (im guessing lack of 1:1 does that).

Ok, I'll bite.

I hate Sony. Yeah it's my personal opinion but I just can't stand buying their products anymore. Haven't looked at the Aquos.

The new Samsungs will be out soon, reports say the end of March. Looks like they have 1:1 pixal mapping but you may need an HDMI/DVI video card in your PC. Check out this thread http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=813416 for more information.

They're both decent choices. The Aquos, however, really is amazing, especially the
smaller sizes. I find the Bravia's are nice in the larger sizes, but I'm not too keen
on their more smaller sizes. The 37 inch Aquos, however, looks fantastic. I've read
all over the place how folks are very satisfied with it. Sharp might have issues with
their larger sets recently, but they are still the kings of the 42 and below sets IMHO.

You know, there are more new sets coming soon, if you wait a month or 2, you can
probably get a nice 42 incher instead. Sharp will be rolling out more sets soon. Heck,
there are other brands (Samsung) that are also worth considering. There seem to
be a nice 40 inch 1080P panel from Samsung on sale for $1800+ recently. Prices
are dropping! Even the 42 inch Aquos 1080P is nearing the $2K mark.

Good luck!

the 42" aquos is below $2k now by a ways if you look around.

I recently got the 42" Aquos to replace a 32" Aquos, and was initially unhappy with it, but I am getting closer to getting the picture dialed in finally and am getting happier--it is MUCH harder with this set to dial it in than it was for the 32", which had the individual color settings and such that the 42" lacks. It also seems much more susceptible to broadcast quality than the 32" was, but this could just be because of the larger size showing it more--some SD channels look pretty bad at times.

However, we did just get one of the Samsung 720p sets in that they are discounting right now at work, and it looks quite a bit better than the sammie, and I think they were fairly highly regarded.

Many Aquos plagued by serious banding ussies, I already ruled out them.

Well I have a 37'' right now, and have been considering going to 40 or 42. But then again the thing sits on my desk, so its not completely nessecary lol.

I was going to get in on that 40 1080 Sammy earlier this week, but missed it by like a day. It would have been $1818cdn plus tax, which is hot!

I then looked at the 42 Aquos 1080p, but it doesnt even have a PC input, so thats a deal breaker as the main use will be for PC. I was quoted a hot price on it too, $1968CDN

Dont get me wrong, I might not even upgrade period and just stick with what I got now. Im more than happy with my 37 inch now for 1k. IF I do upgrade, it will only be for a larger tv, no point paying more money for same size LOL.

But anyways back to the bravias, I keep hearing so many negatives about their entry line. Is it that inferior compared to Aquos and Sammys?

That's mainly for the larger sets (46 and up). We're mainly talking about 42 and below.
