Major blue convergence issue, unadjustable!

After having my TV off for about 30 minutes, I came back to turn it on and the blue CRT was way out of whack. Standard as well as service menu convergence adjusting can't move the blue CRT up and down. Running the auto convergence "Touch Focus" which I never do, came back with a "Touch Focus Error". This is a new thing that I've never seen happen to my set before.

Not sure if it matters, but mine's an old Toshiba 50H81 RPTV from late 2001. What exactly is this that happened? It doesn't seem like the blue got more or less bright. It's just way off all of a sudden (and it's not the component cable or the source).

Here's a picture I've drawn to simulate what it looks like. Notice the upper half of the screen is slightly off, but the bottom/bottom-left is way off with the blue.

Sorry, I usually do a search for answers first, but typing in the words "convergence" or "bad convergence" don't exactly narrow down the results.

You have hardware failure of the convergence circuit. The IC's need to be replaced. A tech will check for other things specific to your model. Cost you $300-$400 parts & labor. Also try searching here for "stk*".

Update:
A TV service guy came to my house to work on it. He said something about "...replacing it with something higher voltage so that it won't happen again for a long time." (I couldn't quite understand what he was saying).

It worked for about 2 days. Then the green went out of whack and had the issue. So the guy came back, tried to do what he did last time, except with the green this time I assume. It didn't fix it.

Now it's been over a week and all he's said over the phone is that he's been trying to contact Toshiba and got no email reply, and he kept getting stuck on hold for a long time over the phone.

Anything I can tell him to nudge him in the right direction?

I've always been told Toshiba's need to use STK392-110T and aren't supposed to substituted with any other kind of IC. The return resistors and some fuses also need to be checked. But if he is a repair tech he should know all this.
