Hey folks, I know this thread is a bit old but I'm bringing it back to life rather than start a new one since this popped out in my search results...
I have the same sort of need, as I imagine a lot of people do - how would anyone in any sort of urban area keep the massive boxes these things come in around? You need a house with an attic or something to keep them around. On the other hand a smaller, sturdier carrying case could easily slip under a bed or hang out in the back of a closet in even the smallest living arrangements (plus it wouldn't require a galactic utility vehicle to go places).
I want to be able to safely handle my 46" LCD in the back seat of my car during apartment moves. Nothing too dangerous, and nothing as unsupervised or physically shocking as a freight truck, so no musician/roadie style giant stuff needed. I've pondered various homebrew solutions, but there's gotta be a company out there that makes reasonably inexpensive stuff for this purpose, no?
I'm thinking something along the lines of a plastic rifle case, just in larger dimensions, with hard foam you can trim to suit your needs (or even a massive version of the slipcases they make for notebooks and smaller screens, could easily insert something cheap and rigid into the side the screen is on).
Unfortunately I'm not having a lot of luck with Google, perhaps just not trying the right kinds of phraseology - anyone have any advice on this?
