As previously noted, CBS Sports will cover all games in HD, but not all games will be in HD all the time. Here's why:

Typically, Flex Regions cover 80%-90%, while Constant Regions cover 10%-20% of the US.

For each Window or Time Slot:
- If the local affiliate is in a Flex Region, they will broadcast the game is HD.

- If the local affiliate is in a Constant Region, they will upconvert the SD Constant Feed.

This provides the most HD possible, while keeping the programming Correct regarding locality.

The decisions as to which games go where remain as in the past with HD exactly following the SD network. (As always, local affiliates may deviate from this.)

For more on how CBS has decided to handle the coverage (Flex & Constant Regions), please see this topic: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=817525

WTOL-DT has Stanford-Louisville

WWJ-DT has Texas Tech-BC

Watching Maryland on WJZ Baltimore. Have to assume this is a constant feed yet it doesn't look like upconverted or stretched SD.

How can you tell if you are a flex or constant station?

My local is still in SD. KBTX-DT in College Station, TX (cable)

Check the maps in the links in this post:

Some of the Friday game maps are linked further down in that thread.

If anyone happens to grab screenshots from the games today, I would love a shot of the "HDTV by Harris" at the beginning of the games

Yeah, now I'm really confused. WBTV (Charlotte) is also supposed to be a "Constant" for this game, but there's no way this is an upconvert.

The good news, assuming they switched to flex, is it seems that the cutaways to different games for flex feeds are kept at a minimum. (Good news assuming the game you want to see is their primary game)

I think it's at the end of the games. Not sure if it's at the beginning too. Only up for a second or so. At least that's how it was last year.

Thank god for MMOD, or I'd be stuck watching Stanford getting destroyed. After Stanford loses, we have no more constant games on KPIX.

HDTV by HARRIS lower third is shown at the beginning of each half. They may also by a credit to Harris in the closing credits.

(Cincinnati, OH Time Warner) Stanford/Louisville drops to SD when they go to constant feed. Dayton OTA is currently in flex mode and is showing Maryland/Davidson in HD.

edit- Just checked the maps in the link and Cincinnati should be in flex mode for games in this time slot.
In MD territory both DC and Baltimore are showing the MD game in full HD. Only switched toother games very briefly with 6 minutes left in first half.
Dayton (OTA) is now showing the Stanford/Louisville game in HD, while Cincinnati (Time Warner) is still SD.
Haven't seen a single game in HD yet. THis is WEAK.

Guess Ricky P. is enjoying his return to Rupp, when he doesn't have to play against the team he restored to greatness from its dark time in the late eighties. Is Stanford representative of Pac-10 softness, or are they just having a bad day? I'd suppose the latter, since I think UCLA and the Quack Attack are strong this season.

This is crap! Not only am I stuck watching a game in SD, it's a crappy game. The other two games look like they are good matches, but were stuck watching Louisville kill Stanford.

Davidson vs. Maryland in HD on KCBS-HD in LA. All highlights from other games in HD. Only complaint is the graphics. Out of town scores on top and game score on bottom very distracting.
KGMB Honolulu had the Texas Tech/BC game and only had 2 cut-ins to Davidson/MD game.

Wash St. / O Roberts in HD on KCBS-HD.

Obvious problems with HD flex feed in Buffalo for the ODU/Butler game. I'm watching on WISC-DT in Madison. Anyone confirm in other parts of the country?
belmont vs georgetown in sd. only game so far in sd.

wtvf nashville QAM tuner to receiver hd channels
post #25 of 268
WLNS CBS in Lansing MI via Comcast went SD at about 2:55 watching Georgetown and Belmont, we switched to Butler and ODU at 3:01 and it stayed SD, then at 3:03 we got the CBS HDTV pillars.

is CBS having feed issues from Buffalo?
Getting my first taste of upconverted SD on WISH-TV in Indy for the Butler-ODU game. It is worse than SD. This is criminal that CBS is doing this to the fans in the markets where the team are from.

Here in Atlanta,on Comcast, the local CBS has 4 total channels. 1 SD channel. 3 channels on the HD side. They aren't attempting to show 3 hd games, they are "downrezzing" the HD games so they all look fairly good. They have shown up to 4 different games at times already today. Frankly, it's a better option than trying to run 1 HD game and 2 SD games at once. It was unwatchable at times last year. I enjoy the option of seeing all the games for this type of event.

They currently have a different game on the analog cbs than they do the primary HD channel.

Texas A&M/Penn in HD on KHOU (Houston) OTA
