Please tell us if the blacks are equal to the Sharp D92 and if it's provided without crush and bringing out shadow details especially with BD or HD DVD. No banding with those blacks are a strong positive. Thanks

BTW: To demonstrate Samsung boldness with their new 15,000:1 plasma on their website they do a side-by-side comparison of blacks against a Panny 60U in the pic below and so it looks like they are establishing better blacks in both areas - the irony is Panny has always been the reference point for it's boasting rights with blacks and now Samsung demo's it's advances vs. the Panny on the website with the new "T" series PDP looks like this and the 81 series will be winners.

I havnt seen the D92 to compare it to but the shadow detail is what I was talking about before (just didnt know what the technical term for it was)

Unlike other LCDs Ive had, I was actually able (over component to..which doesnt have the HDMI black option) to tell the subtle differences in blacks throughout a lot of pictures/movies that I normally thought were just ALL black. From what I can tell theres defenitly no banding BUT if you put the backlight to MAX and turn the Dynamic Contrast to MAX you do see the slightest clouds when an ALL black image is shown while being viewed in a dark room. I'll see if I can get a picture of this because Im not sure if the clouds were from the set or from the movie I was watching. Havnt really noticed other than that 1 time.

I have access to an XBR3 and I will post comparisons as soon as I get my HDMI cables. Maybe I will be able to see clouds on the XB3 for use as comparison.

This is what is happening on my ps3, sorry for the low quality clip, but i had to record for a few hours to actually catch it happen

Im going to try a different HDMI cable tonight, and have Circuit City coming Sat to swap the TV, maybe it was bumped during transit or something who knows.

plastikpyro im glad yours is working fine though, so at least its not a problem with the line just a case by case thing, that I just happen to get stuck with

Its been playing movies fine, which is what I dont get

and worked fine on 3 other tv's I used it on with the same HDMI cable
post #153 of 4566
wow thats pretty bad spicaly, annoying to say the least. maybe try enabling the game mode option on the tv?

Anyone search for LN-T5261F on google? This is one of the results: http://www.energystar.gov/ia/product..._prod_list.xls

It's the Energy Star website run by the US government, so it's a fully legit site.

The LN-T5261F is listed in there and it has a standby power rating of 0.68 watts, so chances are this set exists. Does anyone know anything about its availability?
anyone know what the price tag on the 5261F would be since the 5265F 35xx and the 4661F was around 27xx.
Just a wild guess, 34xx!

Speaking of boxes, can anyone comment on the actual dimensions of any of the 40" boxes? Just wondering if I should plan on getting help from a friend w/a truck. Thanks!

Please read what I've been writing all over the place. I'll mention it again:

IT'S THE FAULT OF THE PS3!! It's sending invalid digital audio signals to the HDMI
which messes the TV up!! It's not your TV or the HDMI cable. It's just that the PS3
seems to be screwing up certain digital signals via the HDMI, and selecting another
output alone doesn't seem to work. It has to be totally disabled.

The one sure fix is to disable 5.1, DTS, and use the digital audio cable (not HDMI)
for sound. It'll work fine if you do that. It's been an issue with the PS3 since day 1.

The dimmensions of the box (in inches) are: 43Wx32Hx15D

Im not sure exactly of the weight but 2 average people can easily transport the box with the help of the little hand slots in the box and the overal low weight of the TV.

can you point me in the direction of which digital audio cable you are using? I have an optical cable for some audio gear that isnt in use, but not sure if the ps3 or tv have inputs/outputs for that *not at home*

The PS3 has outputs for the optical cable (that's the cable I meant to say). Anyhow,
if you have a Surround system, then hook that cable up and then in the audio settings
of the PS3, Choose Manual and then de-select 5.1, DTS, etc. Just keep the default
PCM options on the PS3. Now, for your TV, you might have to tell it that the input
is PCM as opposed to 5.1 digital. My TV kinda requires that (Sharp d43U) but I am
not sure if that's the norm.

*IF* you don't have a surround system, you can still use the HDMI cable for audio,
but instead of having the PS3 automatically select it for you, manually set it yourself
(same idea, Audio Settings -> HDMI -> Manual -> Deselect 5.1, DTS, etc).

*IF* you still find you have problems using audio via HDMI, then your only hope would
be the regular Multi/AV cable that Sony gives you (yellow/red/blue RCA cable). In
the audio menu on your PC, you'd do the following:

Audio Settings -> Multi/AV Out -> Auto (These cables don't do digital audio anyhow).

Hope this helps. I ran into the same exact prob on my Sharp 37D43U TV as well.
It's just the damned PS3 screwing things up. BTW, grab the latest firmware upgrade
as we can now queue downloads and use BlueTooth Keyboard/Mouse.

Cool man, I appreciate all your time/sharing your knowledge on the matter. I'll keep my fingers crossed I have the same success. Thanks again!

If it's there, expect more reports of clouding.
Too soon to rest those personal fears.

Hopefully some of our new owners will be able to post clouding pics such as in the Sony clouding thread. Totally dark room, overexpose (a few seconds of exposure usually is enough) until the pic shows the nonuniform screen on null input.

The swapping begins ...

No probs. Here's an old article that kinda tries to explain the problem:
http://kotaku.com/gaming/gizmodo/one...ues-215190.php

In my case, the screen never comes back for good, it cycles between flashes and
a blank screen. Really annoying and I wish Sony would do something about it.

well I went to bestbuy today and i saw that they had the LN-T4066F. The picture looks really good from what I saw from it. But the screen was a little shiny but you couldn't notice it when u viewing it from the front. On the side view you can only see the glare from it when it goes black. But what I found funny about it was that when it went black I saw nothing but scraps on the tv. I was like wtf why would they put a tv that has scraps on it. Any way I still planning on gettin the 4661 model this may. But from 4066F looks good but I think it might be a pain cleanin the screen and worring if it gonna get scratch because it looks like the screen can easily get scratch from what I can tell.
i am getting a 4665f tonite or tomorrow morning. ill post some pics and a review when its mine. its in stock at two best buys that are somewhat close to me. one of them says they can't sell it till sunday for some reason. the other one said they could sell it though.

I know, I know, I'm not quite yet an owner but does anyone who has already acquired a 4661 know what the box dimensions are?

FYI; the CC's & BB's have yet to get the 4661's in Eastern WA (bummer, we're always last).

Thanks in advance.

i'll post the box dimensions later tonight

plastikpyro, do you have scratches on your TV?
nope no scratches thank god, I'm very particular about my new electroincs so you be sure i went over every square inch looking for scuffs and hairline scratches. I immediately used that cloth it came with and wiped it down just to make sure.

That's great, I was concerned about scratches on this set.

I'm going to bring my Sony KDL-46S2010 back to CC and buy the 4661F. I hope this is a big upgrade.

I don't suppose you could download the demo and check it out for us?

Camper. Ok so I downloaded the graw demo and turned it on with my 360 connected via components with 1080p enabled and I do have to say that there is overscan...
JUST KIDDING. From you pic mine does not look like that. It looks like you have about 2percent overscan on your tv. On the 4066f almost the whole blue border is visible. the 4 corners are cut off. I thought maybe there was some overscan issues but I put the tv in 4:3 mode just to make sure and the picture looked exactly as it should. I also looked at some pics of graw in action on google and my tv looked exactly as in the pictures. So ya no overscan...

No the best way I can described it is u know the how shiny the black ipod looks? Well sometimes it get scratches if you don't take good care of it. That would be the best ex of what I saw when I look at the 4066f.

Did either Best Buy have the 5265F? If not, do you know when they expect them in? I'm ready to get that one but I cannot find it yet. Thanks.

If either BB or CC doesn't have it right now and you need it, check out The High Definition Store. They have the 5265F in stock.
