Anyone know if the 4061F has a QAM tuner?

I'm posting this here since I didn't see a thread for the 66.

Just got the LN-T4066F. I was planning on buying the 61 but nobody was carrying any of the new T series in Queens, NYC. I checked the BB, CC, PC Richard sites and nothing on the new sets. I head over to J and R and I see the 61 on sale and quickly decided that I will get it (priced really nicely for a brand new tv).

I decide to physically check out BB myself since I was going there to pickup Casio's EXLIM camera anyway. Nothing is on display so I head over to the Magnolia center in BB and ask a rep. He tells me they don't have 61's but do have the 66's. First thing they tell me is that they can't sell them till the 28th, I respond: "J N R has them already on sale". The rep (very nice guy, amazed he worked at BB) looks it up and sees the set and his eyes widen at the price that's listed there. He tells me they can't price match it because it's internet and different models. I thank him and proceed to leave the store telling him that I will go to J N R. As I'm walking out he approaches and quotes an amazing price for the 66. For just a few bucks more I got the "better" model and I got it the same day.

Sorry if my intro was long but it was my first new tv in a couple of years and I found the buying experience unique, especially for such a new set. Onto what you all want: Pictures!

First off, I don't have any HD content at all. I wasn't expecting to buy the TV since nobody was selling them so I couldn't get the HD Cable box from Time Warner. I also do not own a PS3 or 360 so can't help you there...yet! I will be picking up the HD Cable box tomorrow and borrowing my brothers 360. The day after that I will borrow a PS3 and rent some Blu-Ray Movies.

So over the next couple of days I will be providing lots of nice pictures.

In the meantime I will leave you with pictures of the set connected to my PC.

I tried to take different angles so you guys could notice the "Super Clear Panel" and the reflections it gives off. Also took the pictures in light and dimmed light for another perspective.

Feel free to request picture types and ask questions. The images are rather large as I assume you want to see quality pictures. If they are too big the next batches will be reduced, just let me know!

I'm having problems with my set cutting off during gameplay while using the ps3 over HDMI. Playing Blu-Ray movies has been fine, other than the initial handshaking. But the dropping off during gameplay is starting to scare me. I'm going to call Samsung when I get home from work tonight and see what they have to say. I've used the same setup PS3/HDMI, on three other HDTV's never having it drop off during gameplay. So we'll see.

It kinda sucks to have finally found a TV I love picture wise, that now suffers from a processing issue

I actually got my hands on a friends HD Cable Box (couldnt wait until TimeWarner opens at 10) and connected it via component (HDMI cables are on the way from monoprice) The HD channels come in great but the SD channels get these weird like lags, might be the artifacting people talk about. I will take pictures of this occurance but I did call TimeWarner and they said my area is having outages so that might be the case.

I really love the Split Screen feature and it shows the difference between HD and SD. With Split Screen I feed both sources from the same box, one via the normal cable the other via the component. You can actually tell the differences easily! Funny thing is that when I go to a non-HD channel the quality flips. The normal cable gets better quality while the component is average at best. Again I will take pictures of this and post them hopefully tonight.

Now im off to do research on DNIE. I heard bad stuff about it but using it myself it didnt look bad at all.

I am wondering what you think of the reflections that you see (and that the photos clearly show)? In your usage, is it problematic? Did you connect the computer over the VGA or HDMI input? (just curious). Thanks again.

To add to this: even though you do see my keyboard reflected in the screen itself thats only because of the angle (downwards) that I took the picture at. If you sit at a normal angle you will not see the reflection in the screen, but yes you will still see it in the outer black finish.

To answer your last question I connected thru VGA...pretty nice right?

These differences are more cosmetic than anything:
-XBR3 like glass bezel(?) at the bottom of the 66
-the swivel stand is oval-round and not rectangular
-the overal set is more rounded off at the corners
-the typical Power button under the word Samsung is gone, power is now on the right side of the set
-in place of the Power button is a blue light that lights up when on much like XBR3 again

Like I said in another post: the 66 looks like a XBR3 Wanabe (from the screen down at least)

That's pretty much the differences I can tell (other than the speaker location you mentioned) between the 65 and 66. I can't seem to find any TV features that seperate the 2, unlike the 61 which has 5000 less dynamic contrast ratio and lacks the 2.2 channel dome speakers.

The sound is good. The simulated surround sound is a cool feature but since I do have actual SS I've been using that mostly. The one thing about the set is the Sound Leveling feature. Basically it sets the volume for all the channels to be equal, so no more Low Volume Drama on 1 channel the High Volume Action show on another channel, it seems to equalize both nicely.

Thanks for the pics, Taz. I am very interested in the 4066, but I just don't understand why the manufacturers are making these glossy black sets! Does anyone really think it makes the set look high-end? If the 4066 had a brushed black (ala anodized aluminum) bezel (even matte plastic), it would be so much more attractive. That said, if this set performs to expectations, I want it.

Thanks. Because the whole 1:1 pixel mapping thing is a big concern for many people considering one of these great panels, have you been able to confirm 1:1 (no overscan in just scan mode) using something other than VGA, like DVI>HDMI or HDMI>HDMI?

Hopefully a matte finish will be an option in some of the models. You definitely saw reflections in the bezel in Taz's pictures.

I havnt been able to test overscan since I dont have any HDMI cables at the moment. My shipment of HDMI cables should arrive by Saturday. I purchased both HDMI-HDMI and HDMI-DVI so the sooner I get them the sooner I'll be able to post pictures with the Just Scan mode via HDMI.

One thing I did notice reading the manual was that DVI-HDMI was only available via port 1. Then it says that PC Mode is not available in HDMI Port 1 but then again it contradicts itself under the "How to connect a PC" section where it says to use HDMI-DVI in port 1... @Gopherblue: I actually think it looks really good with the lights off. The movies seem to blend in with the bezel to make a nice ambient black. Also I was amazed at the blacks on this. I read somewhere that Samsung wasnt great at blacks but when I was watching movies I was surprised. I even compared it side to side on the same desk with another LCD and the Samsung picked up the differences between what I normally thought was black and what turned out to be just a really dark blue/purple that appeared black on the LCD i was using previous to the 66.

Muchas gracious. Looking forward to the test. I have a nVidia 7600GT with DVI out that I would love to hook up via DVI>HDMI with NO overscan. If this is possible I'll be buying one of these soon. Also, not to sound negative but have you checked for clouding or other QC anomalies? Some of the previous generation Samsungs had clouding issues. Thanks.

It looks like the 4665f has a matte finish frpm the pictures? Anyone confirm that yet? I'm ready to grab one anyday just looking forward to official final specs. 60/24? 1.3 color ? That looks sweet Taz thanks.

spicaly, have you tried passing video only over the HDMI (no audio)? I'm just curious as well since I have the PS3 and am planning to get the same set.

I went up to my local Circuit City yesterday (Col, Ohio), and they told me they have the 4661 in there computers but that they are not available yet. I plan on going to BB later on today. So, my question is, when will I actually be able to go to the and pick one up, or am I better off ordering from a site like JR and Vanns? Also, if given a choice between the 61 and the 65, which one would you select? I'm graduating soon Fisher school of bus. at Ohio State and i'm making my first decent purchase lol.

Thanks for the pics and review - you're the first person to actually get a hold of a 66 series. I have been checking online and I had no luck finding one of these on sale - so this is good news.

Could you comment on the quality of SD content - had some other reviews on another thread say that it can be awful on the 61s and 65s. Not that these have a different processor, i think it might depend on the feed.

If you are aware of the clouding/flashlighting issue, many of us are awaiting word on this. Has the Mura problem been solved? Blank input, all lights off (might have to wait till dark), then look at the screen with the backlight turned up. You could take a pic, overexpose it until the screen lights up in the pic. Do you see blotches, and put on a dark content movie, same question?

Nice design, there should be a 4666 and 5266.

Above is a link that says Phillips is abandoning their advanced fluorescent back light assemblies and is going hard over to LED back light assemblies. Maybe they know something?

Has anyone tried the Wiselink- USB picture /mp3 player feature. Supposedly if you load a USB drive with MP3 and JPEG the set will display these. Curious about the feature. Could be nice to create a quick slide show?

Congrats! That's the set I'm interested in. As posted numerous times before, any confirmation on 1:1 with no overscan using DVI>HDMI would be greatly appreciated.
