I haven't noticed any clouding or other anomalies that have to do the with the TV itself BUT to tell the truth I don't know exactly how to check for Clouding. I know about banding from a friends AQUOS but nothing really about Clouding since the only XBR3 I know has none. If anyone would like to PM on how to check for clouding and other anomalies please let me know.

I can do better than comment, I'll post some pictures in about an hour of both SD and HD and Split Screen comparisons of both. I'll even throw in some DNIE demo pictures ^^b

Blank input, all lights off (might have to wait till dark), then look at the screen with the backlight turned up. You could take a pic, overexpose it until the screen lights up in the pic. Do you see blotches, and put on a dark content movie, same question?
I haven't noticed such things and I was even using "Dynamic Mode" which sets the backlight to the max level of 10. I'll post pictures of the set in the 3 different pre-made modes the TV comes in.

I just bought a 4gb USB drive for this exact purpose so I'll make a slide show of the pictures I will be posting above.
Off to dinner but I will be back in 1-2 hours chock full of new pictures.
