Hey guy's,

I have a question regarding size of subwoofers. Right now I live in a apartment but hope too be buying a house soon. I have ascend 340 se mains and center and 200's as surrounds. I want to updrade my old NHT SW2P sub thats about 13 years old. The tv room is 8'h x 12' x 12' so pretty small. I was looking at the HSU VTF-3 HO. I know it's a big sub but I want to avoid buying another when I move into a house. Whould it sound terrible in a room so small for now? What do you guy's recommed?

Thanks
John

Nope, just level match, then season to taste.

On the back there is a magical rotating device called the VOLUME or GAIN.With this you can always set the sub to match the level in even the smallest rooms!

This is a trick question right?

There's no such thing as too much sub. You're problem is going to be your square room.

No such thing. The better the sub, the easier the workload. So, less distortion, better sound quality.

I got a small apt too and I don't like disturbing my neighbors but i'll never go back to 10 inch sub my friend, its better to stick w/ the 12-15 in subs...U just have to use good judgement for example at evening hours turning the gain down on ur sub, putting ur receiver to night time mode, or even better just turning the volume down. Also coming to forums like this from time to time to see what new solutions are out there is good too. (Yesterday I learned of a product called a subdude which will help my situation)
Subs are very loud so u can tell when the bass is taken over ur music and adjust accordingly. What u don't want is when u get the opportunity to let ur music play loud, ur sub to start distorting and clippin b/c u got a small sub. Distortion kills!!!

Thanks guy's for all the replies. I can't wait to get a real sub and start shaking the plaster off these wall's. Looking not to spend over $1000 on a sub is the HSU VTF-3 HO the best sub around that price range. p.s. it will be used for 100% movies.

thanks again
John

It is certainly among the best, allowing for personal preference.

No question, the VTF is top notch. You will not be dissappointed there.
