Nice to see. Hopefully the outside will be in one color and not two toned. LOL Can't wait for this player and other HD-DVD players to come out and see Sony's reaction to it.

I wonder if this is the player at the center of the Walmart deal?

If so, I'm guessing (based on the Broadcom 7440 reference specs) 1080i HDMI with DD+, TruHD and DTS-HD decoding.

Upscaling, also, of SD DVDs. CD playback also.

Stereo analog outputs (downmixed from 5.1 audio decoded by 7440) and TOSlink Optical.

5.1 PCM audio output on HDMI also, from the DD+, TruHD and DTS-HD decoded by the 7440.

HDMI 1.2 potentially, though I doubt 1.3. However, if this player ends up having 1080p, I think there'll be more orders for Dependz for the Sony offices.

It likely is not...

...which means that the Wal-Mart player is just one of several Chinese players that may show up in H2 2007.

Venturer is a Canadian company that is importing this.

It's actually a re-badged Alco SHD-7000 I believe.

Meanwhile, Fujii said Toshiba has confirmed the feasibility of a 51GB triple-layer HD DVD disc, and plans to have the technology standardized by the DVD Forum in the fourth quarter of this year.

Me thinks this is good news too. Kinda kills the capacity argument.
