Can I replace the HD in my 5k series without an original?

When I decommissioned my Replay some time ago I stripped the hard drive out of it and used it in something else... now I would like to get this unit working again. Is it possible to image a new drive with some backup from the net and get it working, without the original HD or a backup of it? Thanks in advance for any help! I sure have missed my Replay. TTYL

Or you could just buy a drive already imaged from someone like Mikeyboy(?).

Towards the bottom-right of the FAQ, you'll find a few links to Replay Images. Hopefully one of them still works

I downloaded 5504_50103.zip and now worry that it might be a newer image file that will not skip commercials? I plan to run Wirns to preserve the CA function. Anyone know? TIA again for this info!

You didn't post your Replay model number. If you have at 50xx (or 5160), then any version will retain IVS and CA. If you have a 55xx model, then follow the instruction for which versions retain IVS and CA...

I could assume that since you say your are planning to run WiRNS, then you have a 55xx model and should follow the instructions to download an image that retains those features. 'Cause, if you have a 50xx model, then there is no need to run WiRNS to retain the features...
