Nope. Quite a few people have looked into the tax deduction aspect, but results have been unfavorable with IRS.

Do you need to get something directly out of it, besides the feeling of pride in helping a great cause?

Regarding the heat of the PS3, I used to keep the PS3 in the console under my TV, which was fine for letting it run during movies and games with the door to the console open. Before running the folding program, I took it out and placed it standing up on top of the console (I tried both leaving it flat and standing it up, I think that it runs cooler while standing up - nothing scientific about this conclusion, it just felt cooler to the touch). I have completed three WU's, but turned it off this morning before leaving for work. Despite moving it, I just have an issue with leaving it on while I'm out. I suppose letting it run a bit more while home will help my comfort level with this...

That was a great move on Stanfords part, gamers can be hard core about scores & will do what it takes to beat another "player".

Imagine if/when the ps3 hits an install base of 100 Million if you could get even half of them running something like this. What a huge untapped resource they could be...

I think the TFLOPS stat on the "Client statistics by OS" page actually shows current process power, rather than some cumulative cycles so far...

If there a page that indicates total calculation contribution to date?

I've been really busy with work lately with no PS3 time (PS3 running f@h 24/7).... This weekend I am hoping to get Oblivion which should let you catch up!

Honestly yes I do. You ask why? Because Health Care costs so damn much I feel that I should get a piece of the pie if I'm helping since everyone else has no problem charging astronomical rates for doing even mundane things many times. I'd feel like a sucker not making any money on health while everyone else does. Yeah it maybe pessimistic but I have lost faith in the health care system long time ago, I can't trust anyone. (For example this morning they had a report on the news that almost every major medical bill has errors on it and they always favor the Hospital. One example was $37,000 for some thigh surgery, after he took it to a professional claims person they found over $30,000 in errors, oops!. There are people with jobs that freelance to audit Hospital charges and they say not almost everyone but everyone has errors on it, they get the details, correct and save the patient serious cash. They went through a few other examples. Like Health care was cheap to start with and then they rip us off. Something is very wrong with a society when you can't trust health care imo.)

If you are on a specific team why should the system id make a difference? I can change it I suppose but didn't even realize that this was pertinent.

Same here...Joined over the weekend..I can't seem any harm in running the ps3 at night occasionally to help the cause...1 night = 1 fold.

i thought everyone was on supermans team 2630, it has a chance to get to number 1 with all the PS3's....Number 9 right now.

Some were originally, but that was piggy-backing on somebody else's large team. We thought it'd be nice to have an team of only AVS members.

AVS is doing pretty good so far, and being nearly all PS3's, the numbers are racking up fast.

Should probably make this thread a sticky.

Also, if the team can get past #800, then there is also individual breakdown of stats within the team as well.

2 Folds so far. My plan is to run it over night twice a week.

I got my PC folding with the team using the beta SMP program - so I'm using both cores of my X2 processor. Only a 3800 though. I was hoping the FX-60 would drop further in price, but it looks like there are no new shipments...

Once I'm done with my first SMP fold probably early Wednesday morning, I'll see if I can get the beta GPU working on my machine.

I switched my PS3 to fold for AVS Forum as well. Previously was using the PS3 to fold for the team above Techreport. Folding for both teams now... with the computers.

Am I reading this correctly? Does that mean if I don't finish the Work Unit (that takes 8hrs to complete) within 48hours, then its worthless because the server as already expired it and moved on? I'm not planning on running my ps3 1hour of folding for every 5 hours off. Was hoping to get maybe an hour of folding work a day without leaving it on overnight.

BTW, my Kill-A-Watt device said that the ps3 folding uses about 220w of power and used approx. 2.2kwh last night (7.5hrs) or about $.22 at my kwh rate.

My question is, do you still get the full stat credit or partial.

We are ranked 2021 now, almost there to breaking the 2000 mark. Probably by tomorrow.
