I removed the -advmethods flag from both gpu clients. I'm back getting the 912 and 925 wu's and liking my temps much better.
What's up with all these 1298 point WUs I'm getting with the GPU?
I think they were a beta wu that is now being sent to everyone. They work better on gpu cards with more processor cores. The gts 450 is certainly not the performer it was on these new wu's.

What is the comparison of PPD with your GTS 450 and your GTX 460?

GTX 460 = 11,400 PPD
GTS 450 = 8600 PPD

Shader clocks on both almost the same. These new WU's are more dependent on the number of processor cores.

Moepoker

Congrats on your upcoming 2 million point mark.
Thanks....just noticed that.
Are you getting about the same ppd from your gts 450?
Just around 8k I think.
Thats not to bad. I almost picked up another one for $60 AR but I didn't feel like spending the money.

I'm gonna install F@H on my gf's desktop tonight when I get to her house. Won't help much, but she already keeps it on 24/7, so why not?
Smp? Gpu? What does she have?

Just an old POS. It will probably get me 100PPD.
I guess if it already runs 24/7 then you might as well let it do some work.

In case anyone running GPU3 was wondering why they had such a low point total yesterday, Stanford had some problems with a stats server. The WU's were submitted correctly and the data for research is fine but point allocation was lost. I'm guessing I didn't get about 10k points from yesterday.

Also, today they are doing some server maintenance so if you have trouble getting or sending a WU that is probably why.

My computer restarted last night for some updates while I wasn't home. Didn't get my SMP back up and running until after work today.

On a sidenote, I'm thinking of purchasing this.

That's a nice card for $120AR. Should get you about 11k ppd.
I'm a bit curious on some of the PPD numbers here (maybe they are right or were right?). On the F@H forums, people are claiming ~13K with 470s and ~15K with 480s

If people with 450s are getting 13-15K PPD, is it an old measure, or did the newer work units add to the PPD and thus 470/480s would get 18-20K+ PPD? Or are some of those cumulative with another card?

I haven't figured a PPD yet, but I have 2 GTX470s at 675/1350. Any estimate from you all on PPD with each/both of these?

BTW, my rank right now is 42
I have a 450 (880/1760) that gets about 8600 ppd and a 460 (873/1746) that gets about 11,400 ppd. I would guess the 470's should get around 13k or so each.

The 13k or so you were seeing people talk about with the 450 was when f@h was sending out beta wu's. Those wu's are very rare now. I haven't seen one on my rigs for weeks.

Do you have both 470's going 24/7?
No, just occasionally.

I'm in FL and our heaters are horribly inefficient. I use them instead of a heater when it gets cold. It's around 70 now as 24/7 folding would mean the AC would have to come on.

I got the 470s for gaming first; folding was low on the list. Also, I try to limit my power to 1000KWH/Month.
You would see a nice jump in your folding contribution if you could get both of those babies running when you're not gaming.
Yea, definitely. Assuming 27,000 PPD (not counting SMP), that would be 9.8M PPY!!!

Running my PC folding 24/7 would not only be noisy, but costly. 550W*24*30 = 396KWH = $47.52 per month!

Now, if it were cold here, I'd do that.

Ask for a raise?

It's not just that...the PC is in my bedroom! It would be hard to sleep with the constant SHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSHSH

My GTS450 is quiet....maybe just run one folding?
Yea, but the constant noise would be the sound of points for the team and the sound of research happening at Stanford
post #1647 of 1815
Moepoker,

Did you place your order before the price went back up?
Nah...I am good with the 450 for now.
I'm wishing I had picked up another 450 when they were $70AR
post #1650 of 1815
Getting new WUs on the GPU, I've noticed.
