I am two PS3s and one X2 4200 that I am rotating into the fold. I have four other laptops and three desktops sitting around, but they are of little folding value.
My PS3 is the only computer I have worth folding. I am playing on average 2-4 hours of games/movies per day, the rest is folding.
Yeah, I'm folding 24/7 with the PS3 (taking time out for movies and some Motorstorm). I have my X2-4800+ also folding, but throttled on 50% of one core. I thought about folding on my HTPC and my Domain Controller, but decided it would be too much of a PITA on the HTPC, and the DC, no matter how much I throttled the CPU, pretty much choked (was just a test anyway...I figure it only does my domain authentication, routing to the internet, runs DNS and DHCP, and serves my files...didn't need another app running).

I have plenty of computers in the house I *could* be folding on, but I don't want to up the electric bill. I figure the main computers folding (and infrastructure) are on 24/7, so may as well do something useful.

Looks like sig img doesn't work or rather isn't allowed. Over at extremeoverclocking, they have a folding stat tracking and since we are in the top 800, we can have a sig image that shows our stats. It is not updated as fast as Stanford's stats, but it is updated regularly throughout the day.

I don't know how to enable images in signatures.

Most likely, and I'm one of em!
yes you were the only one in the top 10 i believe

I was hoping to get into the top 5 once my SMP fold gets finished early tomorrow morning. But now that the SMP cat is out of the bag, I should probably be happy to make it back into the top 10.

I wonder how much our folding will slow down once summer arrives in full. Running these processors like this is generating a bit of heat. Probably not much, but I'm sure it amounts to a few degrees.

AVS is lucky #777 as of this post.

So THAT's how you suddenly jumped into fifth position! It seems we have quite the battle to hold that position between like five of us.
dang... ive been pretty happy staying around 70th place lol.

and those extra stats are major cool.
Damn You windows update!!!! My main SMP computer rebooted last night 6+ hours of no folding :-( I should have had my update configured correctly.

After 1 hour of folding & no frame post I shut it down and the SMP CRASHED!!! I just lost 54% of SMP work

Now I'm wondering if iI should just go back to running two clients at once on my Core 2 Duo?
My SMP client crashed as well and I don't know what to do... I just don't like the whole DOS CMD open and I was having some problems with it. I might have to give it another go, but I am just running the standard program. Remember... we might be trying to gain rank on our team, but we are as weak as the weakest folder..... for anyone with Duo Core, should run SMP because you get more points.. well I would but I was having so many problems...

Moved up to #84 on the team. I am climbing slowly

Has anyone had problems with downloading/uploading? On several occasions I have checked on my status only to find the program unable to download the results. All I have to do is stop the folding program and restart it and things are ok. I am using a wifi connection, so don't know if that is the problem. Thoughts?

This has happened to me a few times as well... I think maybe either their servers are getting hammered, or the connection is momentarily dropping out and the program is not re-establishing a connection.

You need 28 WU's just to break the Top 25 on this team! It's getting serious now.

By the way, the AVS Team is now ranked 745 for those keeping score at home... and I know you are
post #289 of 1815
How do you know how many PPD your computer is getting? Also: how do you know how many points a completed WU is getting you??

It sure is!

I've had my PS3 on 24/7 since March 27, and I haven't cracked the top 30 in our team yet... And that's with maybe 30 mins max of doing something else with the PS3 just because I'm so busy I never have a chance to play. Just remember all you solo PS3'ers ranked < 30: With every movie you watch, I'm coming for you!!!

I've been folding most of the time since the program came out (username racevw14), I have actually taken time to play games & watch Blu-Rays but I'm just in the top 20 with 9368 points & 32 WU.

Some of you guys must have stopped doing anything but folding!!

I use FahMon it is a free "spy" program that will look at the client and tell you what is going on.

The link has FahMon and many other folding tools: http://forum.folding-community.org/v...ic.php?t=11700

How do you run multiple clients? On my X2 if I try to run the program again it says a client is already running, this one will close. I don't want to risk running the SMP client because of all the problems I've heard it could have.

It would be really fun to run 4 on my quad at work.
My son has been become semi-obsessed w/Oblivion and with spring break and all the PS3 isn't doing much folding (and Motorstorming for dad - drat). My PCs aren't really capable so I'll probably fall into the 30s in team stats.

If you change the machine ID in the client's advanced settings, you can run multiple clients.

for the point worth of WU you go to the stats page on F@H and click on summary

quick link. http://fah-web.stanford.edu/psummary.html

Hmm, I don't have that option in the advanced settings, or any of the settings for that matter.

I'm running the GUI client 5.03 32bit for XP.

I would personally run the command line client in separate folder if you want to run another client. The CLI client has an option to change the machine ID if you go into its advanced settings. You have to manually edit the client.cfg file for the GUI client to change the machine ID. The SMP client isn't working for you?
I'll try making a new folder and seeing what I can do. I didn't want to run the SMP client because it is my editor and while I can let go of one core throughout the day I don't think it would be pretty having all 4 being taken up.

Turning on a second client overnight though would help.

Thanks for the link to the points/ WU completed. Now, the question: how are those assigned? I keep getting p3042_supervillin-03 and they are only worth 186 points...
