There's no way for me to stay in the top ten with all the uber avs'ers, so mise well not take the chance of blowing a fan motor.

I'll still contirbute on the weekends most likely, and will set up some PC clients when i get better PC's.

On another note, we all might be getting paid for similar distibuted computer apps soon, as Sony has sparked interest in other companies who saw how much distibuted processor power has been added by the PS3 F@H teams

on another note we just broke the 500 barrier in 2 weeks with 300cpu's and only 180 members! Good job team! crazy!

I saw the info on the other distributed computing projects Sony is looking into and it definitely could be a win for PS3 owners if it actually works out. Sony won't have a choice. If they offer apps to use our PS3's to benefit profit making companies, someone is going to have to offer incentives. Heck, that will probably spur PS3 sales even more.

I was worried about running my PS3 24/7 with folding so that is why I got mine from Target. $59, 3 year replacement warranty. I couldn't pass that up.
I bought the 3-year replacement plan from Target for my PS3. Is she dies, I will just go grab another... keep on folding!!!
I assume you have to buy the PS3 from Target to get that extended warrantee? I generally think extended warrantees are for suckers, but given the heat that I'm generating while folding it might be a good idea.
Yes, the 3 year, $59 warranty is offered if you buy it at Target. It was my main reason for buying it at Target.

Wow.. our stats for the day are bad. We have dropped in points... not good .. I guess we were bound to loose some folders with the summer coming and all. I was hoping we could stay on an incline for a while.

You, there are a lot of powerful computers that I am sure that many AVS'ers use.. It would be sweet if we could have our own 'folding' forums like EOC or The Tech Report have. I wonder how many people on AVS really even know about folding??
Team AVS Forum is still a great team. Look at DL TV they have come to within 48 positions from us but they have over 600 members. they should be doing a million a day with that amount of members. which shows me that we have a lot stronger team then they do even though they are going to pass us.

Don't forget that it costs about $10/month to fold 24/7. I would hope that compensation would cover at least that cost... If Sony could add downloadable HD PPV and then credit say, $15/month, it could be a win-win all around.

Is there a problem with the fiolding servers?
I seem to be hung up on uploading.

EDIT: I guess there is a problem, I saw a similar post on the PSN forums.
Looks like it. I'm having problems uploading with both the PS3 and PC.
Just started folding on the Ps3 the other day and joined the AVS team. I finished 1 work unit but I lose my connection about halfway through when uploading...
I can't upload either... I have a finished WU waiting from this afternoon...
So just out of curiosity, how many PS3's, PC's, etc, is everyone folding with. I have two PC's (with just Athlon 64 processors) and a PS3.

There are some pretty good point totals and work units being processed by members on a daily basis so I'm just curious what you are folding with to get that production.

So what happens when you don't get credit for a WU? Is it an upload problem or what? I left the PS3 on last night because I had about 2 hours until it was going to finish a WU. Woke up this morning to find the PS3 folding another WU but I didn't get credit for the one that was supposed to finish overnight. It didn't show as completed on the PS3 or the stats online. I feel like I wasted 1.5kwh or so last night.

I also finished a WU on one of my PC's that didn't get credited either. This was about 4 days ago. The PC stats show it finished the WU but my stats online don't give me credit for it.

Stanford is having problems with the credit system now. They will credit you for work after they fix it.
Good, glad to see I am not the only one having issues getting credit.... I had a few finish up here and I am having all sorts of problems with my SMP and even some of the GUI clients...
I think the WU that was supposed to finish last night is the same one that just finished a few minutes ago. It took it 2 times to connect for the upload but it did manage to upload it.

I saw on the folding forums that someone had the same problem where the PS3 gave up connecting for the upload after about 3 hours and then just restarted the same work unit. So it was basically lost. I guess the same thing happened in my case.

I had that for a little while. According to the F@H forum, they had some sort of server problem the other day. Seems they're still trying to recover.
Right on... sucks because that is my work computer and it looks like I might loose all weekend of folding

Is anyone else missing the yellow lights (PS3's actively Folding) on the earth map for the PS3?

I don't have it missing but there are noticeably less yellow lights on the earth map today.

Looks like they changed the formula for active PS3 CPUs:

http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/...?qtype=osstats

Brings the numbers up quite a bit.

Fred,

The current stats show PS3 having 400 TFLOPS. Do you remember what the old TFLOPS stat for the PS3 was?

Thanks.
I believe the PS3 stats on Thursday was around 270 TFLOPS.

Also, the number of "active" PS3s were around 20000.
