Beethoven Concert Grands are still in production. No plans for an upgrade at this point.

Oh. I didn't see them in your list so I thought they were discontinued. They are the best speakers! When is the new Haydn Grand speakers available?

Thanks.

Hi,

Haydn Grand Symphony Edition has been shipping since last summer. They are wonderful!

Cheers,

Patrick

This might be the worst idea I've ever had, but could I use the haydn grand se's as a ctr channel for the mozart grand se's??? Like I said in my earlier post, I have a space limitation of 18" wide.

Thanks!

Hi,

In an ideal universe, you would use the exact same speaker for all 5 channels. "center channels" as we know them exist in their present short but wide form in order to integrate physically into av systems.

That said, Haydn Grand Symphony Edition would work very well as a center channel. However, they only are available in pairs.

Best,

Patrick

Thanks Patrick-
Too bad about the only sold in pairs thing. Maybe I could use the other haydn as a rear center or something.... I don't know.

Any other speakers that might be somewhat tonally matched? I can always adjust gain, so having an equally efficient speaker isn't as important to me... right?

Thanks again.

Patrick can comment on the tonal matching, but I've been using a Waltz Grand as a CC for about 6 years now, had no problem getting just one. My mains are Vandersteens 2Cs, but I had to deal with space constraints when we moved into our current home.

That actually may work. It's a bit too wide for the inside of my cabinet, but it's thin enough to go right in front of my tv on the stand and stay put with some creative mounting... maybe.

Patrick, what are your thoughts on this vs using a haydn grand se for the center matching my mozart grand se's?
Hi Danj1111,

Haydn Grand SE will work great as a center. Obviously you've then got a spare channel you could press into service as a 6th channel.

Saeyedoc is right about Waltz Grand as a center channel (if you had the width.) That particular product has always been sold as an individual speaker because of the nature of its application.

Best,

Patrick

Thanks again Patrick. You may want to kill me for this, but which of the two would be a better match in terms of tonality or sq?

I'm happy to answer whatever questions you have, and really enjoy the opportunity to be useful.

I would go with Haydn Grand SE over a Waltz Grand for a center. Dialog will be more intelligible, and in general Haydn will win in every way except spl. You can also use a pair of Haydn Grand SE in mono as a center. You would obviously need two amplifier channels to do this, and setup is a little bit more complicated.

Best,

Patrick

In any case, there is a substantial improvement from Mozart Grand to Mozart Grand SE. More presence, more defined attack, more resolution, greater low frequency reach. A real winner in my book.

Does Vienna Acoustics plan on upgrading their website to reflect these changes?
Hi Shmalan,

Eventually. While we strive to have our website up-to-date, there are simply too many pressing projects and not enough time. That said, I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.

Thanks,

Patrick

Hi,

My name is Andrew in Denver. I have a pair of Haydn's and about to pick up a pair of Baby Grands in Piano black. I have a pioneer elite 92-txh as my pre-amp and pioneer elite M-10x as my amp. The amp itself does do 4 ohms up to 100watts. I am looking to upgrade step by step and do the amp first and would like to know if B&K is a good solution?

My wants are a few things; matches the looks of my existing system (glossy black), XLR inputs for balanced signals and very little THD (0.005%<). Ideally I'd like to get Classé multi-channel amps but at this point that will have to wait until the end of this year. Should I stick with the M-10x to power my new Baby Grands?

So I just sold my Haydn Grands to a very happy friend and upgraded to the Mozart Grands! So far I have been very impressed. With the Haydns I was using a Rel T-3 to augment the bass, and I thought it did an admirable job, but getting the transition and volume matching just right can be a pain. I am happy to report that it seems with the Mozarts, I will no longer need to use the sub. Incredible bass and I no longer have the nagging thought that the sub may not be as well dialed in and matching as it could be.

Long Live VA! I couldn't be happier.

Is there any opportunity for those of us with the standard mozart grands to upgrade to the symphony edition components?
Hi Andrew,

Thank you for purchasing Vienna Acoustics. If you can wait and can swing the extra expense, the Classe amp is wonderful. B&K is a nice sep above the M-10x, but the Classe is where it's at!

Hi Ilintner,

There are no upgrades available from Mozart Grand to Mozart Grand SE. Too many changes are involved, including new crossovers, drivers and tuning to the inside of the cabinet.

Thanks for the reply Patrick.

Thinking towards the future, I recently acquired a primare a32 to compliment the primare a30.5 that is running 5 of my 7 channels ( front mozart grands, center maestro grand , surrounds waltz grands) using the yamaha aventage 3000 as a preamp and to power my two waltz grand rear surrounds.

Will the a32 amplifier work well with the mozart grands? Can I have too much power? I plan to eventually replace the mozarts with some beethoven concert grands but that may be some time down the road.

Thanks,

Ian
Hi Ian,

No, you will have plenty of power. That is going to be a great sounding system. I love the A32.

Cheers,

Patrick

I have a pair of less than one year old Beethoven Concert Grands, being fed by a Classe' CDP-100 cd player, B&K Ref. 50 pre/pro, and B&K 7250 5 channel amp @375w/4 ohms. BCG's are 4 ohm. I know this is more power than you're asking about but it all sounds marvelous! No complaints about sound quality from the B&K.

@Patrick - I now have shifted to Integra as my amp and pre-amp. This just happened in the last week. I picked up a brand new intregra DTA 9.4 for $500. It's 240 watts at 4 ohms per channel. It's a 7 channel amp. I feel confident in my purchase. Did I do well?

@Randy - I could not pass up on the deal I just shared with Patrick.

As long as it sounds great and works properly, thats all that really matters
post #2636 of 2870
Hi Drewski,

I've used Integra receivers in the past, and have like their performance for the dollar. I think the amp that you bought will work great and is a killer value at $500.

Enjoy,

Patrick

How much of a detriment would it be if the Webern I'm planning on picking up was powered by my receiver (Pioneer VSX-1121), while my Schonberg mains are powered by an Emotiva amplifier? Is it essential for the mains to not only match in timbre, but also in the power it is receiving? I know my receiver can compensate for loudness, but what about everything else?
Your plan would work fine.

My new Webern sounds fantastic - finally running a true 5.1 for the first time without having to use a phantom center. Wow, the difference is amazing. Watched MI4 on BR today and it sounded phenomenal...haven't heard dialog sound so clear ever.

I'm glad your are having the opportunity to experience true 5.1 The center channel has a vital role as you are now hearing. Thanks for purchasing a Webern.

Good listening!
