HTPC and Epson EMP-TW1000. NEED HELP !

Need help:

I have HTPC hooked up via D15 connection (15 pins) with Epson 1080p projector, the cable is 10 meters (33 ft) long.

The image I have on the screen is flickering, not much, but quite annoying, and if I observe more there is a very light grey bar moving up costantly.

My dispaly of HTPC is set at 1280 x 720 resolution with 70 Hz.

Any suggestion how I can fix this?

THANKS

Make sure your HTPC is set to a resolution that the projector can accept over VGA, 70hz may be your problem. 33ft should be OK if it is a decent cable.

I have to ask why you aren't sending 1920x1080?

Hi shigaloo,

1. I set the resolution to 1280x720, because 1920x1080 makes the wording very small and difficult to read, even my screen is big 134" diagonal 16:9. But you are right, may be I have to set that correct resolution anyway. But the flicker problem still exists at that resolution (I tried).

2. 70 Hz: I have tried other Hz rate, but the result is still the same or worst. How is this Hz related to display devise technologically? What is actually the correct rate? By the way my power source is 220 Volt and 50 Hz, has this something to do with it?

If I hook up the HTPC to a Samsung 16:9 monitor by using mechanical VGA selector, the flickering is gone, no matter which resolution and Hz rate I chose.

Thanks
Iwan

Run 1920x1080 at 60hz. Preferably get an dvi->hdmi cable instead of the vga. The gray bar that you see running through the image is just noise getting on the line. I have that on one system too. Definately go digital and itll look perfect.

Ive got the pro model now for a few days now and everything looks great. This is my 4th 1080p htpc system, no other way for me.

Anyway, I understand your frustration with font size but this is easily solved. Go into desktop appearances and change fonts to extra large and change icons to large. Also use mozilla when browsing the net as it allows for font size adjustment very easily by holding ctrl and using your mouse scroller. This applies in Xp or Vista. I see no reason to downrez at all, take advantage of 1080p.
