It would be great if we were surprised by release of these films in the months ahead.

Someday hopefully soon.

Let's hope those will be real soon. I'd buy all five.

They are on the Target website also for what it is worth.

I'm assuming that's because Target's online store works very closely with Amazon's?

Hopefully this means the HD DVD drought will soon become a flood!

It isn't a flood already. I have like 17 pre-orders.

You better start saving up fellers, it's about to rain HD DVDs...

Well, since dreamworks did start announcng titles, (Dreamgirls and Flags...)
this is promising. Paramount is distributing the dreamworks titles and they also have The Godfather and Titanic so the fact that all of these Paramount released titles just appeared (even as placeholders...) is a good thing.
This is the 10th year anniversary of "Titanic" and I doubt they could do a triple dip on SD so really the only version left for Paramount to do is an HDdvd or BD release.

Not all of those titles are Paramount release titles, some are released by UNIVERSAL, and we know what that means...

Gladiatior and SPR will be distributed by Paramount since Paramount bought Dreamworks.

If you look, there is a placeholder for the Blu ray of Gladiator as well.

true, but interesting that all these paramount (either paramount pictures or dreamworks titles that will be distributed by Paramount) titles just manifested.
Could mean nothing but we can keep our fingers crossed.

Paramount has been falling severely behind compared to Warner Bros. and Universal. It may be close to the time they make their big announcements.
yep, they are WAY behind.
Shoot, I remember they had STAR TREK: The complete motion picture set listed as coming to HDdvd (on the Tosh site) last year!

We watch it every year on the nite of April 14th.
This year with A Night To Remember as a double feature.

Wow sounds like a fun evening.

These "place holders" are a little bit different. Previously, the place holders have been on the last three pages of listings, and were seemingly junk, along with all the duplicate listings...you know...the "Not Yet Announced" titles that are listed elsewhere on the site, are in-stock, and have been since...forever.

This is the first time I've seen place holders on the first two pages of the HD Store. Plus, these titles have an image attached, though they're not official cover images.

Maybe reason for hope, as opposed to all of the junk listings at the back of the HD section, that I wish they'd get rid of.

The Amazon site needs a house-cleaning unit. I'll bet that 15% (maybe more) of the Amazon site, so far as product listings, is dead weight...just garbage that needs to be deleted.

Of course they do if they leave the placeholder up long enough. Star Wars had a placeholder for the DVD for at least 5 years before it was announce and I don't think Lucas gave amazon a five year in advance tip. Placeholder are about as reliable as someone saying that there cousin's best friend's dad's uncle works for Universal and said that BTTF is coming soon. I wish people would stop creating threads for every amazon placeholder that shows up.
so if there is a placeholder for Disney's Cars on HD DVD it will eventually be released on HD DVD? Great logic, btw. I hope your logic is accurate.

Wasn't James Cameron one of the directors that played around with the VC-1 codec when it was developed? The Xbox 360 had that Titanic clip stored on its hard drive with VC1.

fun but a bit melancholy.

My NYC apt. is 6 blocks away from Strauss Park which has a memorial for Ida and Isadora.

(MAN, I miss NYC...)
