The Big News??

The News:

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy will be released on both Blu-ray and HD-DVD on November 23, 2007.

Here is the interesting part:

As a gesture of good faith over the Matrix release, New Line/WB will be releasing only the Extended Editions on Blu-ray at this time, while HD-DVD will get only the Theatrical Versions.

The Blu-ray version will be on a BD50 in VC-1 with PCM!! It will also showcase a lot of the neat features of BD-J.

I respond with something unrelated but undeniably difficult to disprove.

Shame I have to go out in a few minutes...

Hey this is kind of fun. I wish more press releases (big ones anyway) had this kind of count down. ^_^

If this is a let down, I'm going to ninjastar my blu-rays at you. They might break, but they won't scratch!

What is it? That Casino Royale was surpassed by Children of Men HD DVD (combo) in HD sales? Well it's almost midnight March 27 on that clock:

yeah the day before release as opposed to a movie that has been out over 2 weeks...did it get into the top 10 yet? the amount of trolling on what used to be a great forum is ridiculous.

must be fun to live in your "delusional" world where pre-orders of Children of Men surpass actual sales of CR in any meaningful way....

i'm waiting with baited breath for the announcement that 10k actual copies of CoM sold on its first week....
OH SHIIITT!! LOTR!! Is this definite? BTW, why PCM and not True HD? By then most of us will have Receivers that decode True HD (I don't really case since my PS3 does that). Because PCM will eat up a lot of space that could be better put to use by including a 640k Dolby track for those who don't have HDMI.

If this turns out to be true, it'll be the first time that I'll pick the BD version over the HD DVD version. I'm all over those EEs with PCM.

I hope this is true. Good job, Josh.
