I know what you mean! That's seriously the coolest part of the game for me, when I start playing without even thinking "red circle, OK now orange circle." It really makes me feel like I'm playing for real!

I don't know how you guys do it. I can barely pass a song on Easy (I do have the Long Road Ahead award)

well, I can't find the article, but I'm pretty sure I read on one of the game blogs today that it doesn't work.

Well that sucks!!! I just like the feel of the ps2 controller a lot better. It seems like it was more solidly built, it had bigger buttons spread farther apart and all that. Plus it was easier to sit and play with it. I know one of my favorite tricks was using the select button to hit star power instead of tilting. That helped out a lot, but now we can't do it anymore.

It happens in most every decently made rhythm game. Harmonix excels at giving that feeling.

You can hit the little "back" arrow button, according to the manual. I haven't tried it. If I can't find the time to tilt the guitar, I certainly can't find the time to locate that little button.

RO tried to get a track like that but David lee roth was asking for more money than the rest of the band so they gave up on a original van halen song.

If you look at comparison shots of the two guitars, they Xplorer has bigger buttons and the spacing is the same. The guitar itself is also the same size.

And as others have said, you can hit the back button to enable star power. It's just not as convenient as tilting.

Hmmm..pictures on page 8 seem to indicate they are pretty much the same, except the 360's buttons are a bit bigger b/c 2 of the edges aren't rounded off.

Yeah, they'll definitely be getting my money as soon as the GH1 songs are available. I like the GH2 list but I like GH1 better.

I'm looking forward to seeing more variety (hopefully) in the downloadable content. I love the rock songs but for some reason my favorite song that I would keep going back to on GH1 to try to get 100% on expert was "Texas Flood". It feels really good to nail those crazy fast blues riffs. I'd love to see more Stevie Ray Vaughn and definitely some B.B. King!

I'm also hoping to see more of the guitar greats represented as downloadable content down the road. Where's the Clapton, Jimmy Page, David Gilmour, Pete Townshend, etc. They'll be sucking away plenty of my money if they start offering stuff like that for download.

I thought a tremolo would bend the strings no matter which direction you moved the bar....if you moved it up and down it would bend the strings, if you moved it forward or back it would stretch the strings closer/further away from the pickups...????

Or does it only work back and forth..and the fact that it can be moved up and down is simply for the sake of comfort, where to trab it before you 'dive' towards the strings while using it..etc...??

So Diamond Dave is to blame huh? Guess I shouldn't be surprised, I know I wouldn't want to be the guy who had to do the Van Halen negotiations

Did anyone catch the recent hall of fame inductions? The only people who showed up were Sammy and Michael, and they just had Velvet Revolver play covers...

um, no. i'm looking at them both, the lines that seperate the fret buttons are spaced the EXACT same space apart, and the buttons are the same exact size, only squared off at the bottom

and the 360 controller build is much better, the ps2 version doesnt feel "solid" at all, it feels like a plastic guitar, a kids toy. the 360 version feels like it was built as a controller and not a toy.

i agree, the SG is a tiny bit easier to play with while sitting down, and i'm also one of the guys who preferred select to the tilt, and that upsets me, even though a quick mod makes select (back button) easy to hit. BUT the tilt in this actually works, unlike the sg where you had to go crazy tilting it trying to get it to work. so i dont need select/back anymore.

another reason the 360's is better? built in killswitch! (dpad) works great, now i can play like buckethead

A tremolo only works in the direction of the strings, bending them or pulling them slightly.

F Wolfmother on hard....I'm about to throw the damn game out the window and try punching holes in the walls of my house. They are cinder blocks...

hehe, wait till you finally beat it, and in the next section it's exponentially harder

Hope my guitar survives.

In actual guitar terms. The Trem is blocked on the 360's guitar. Which mean you can only push down on the trem arm to create a vibrato effect.

My strat is setup the same way, floating your trem causes more tuning issues, IMO.

On a side note: I was hitting the buttons with my finger tips like you would on a real guitar but my yellow button was sticking, so I had to change my approach, more of a flat approach, lay your finger flatter on the buttons. Kinda like barring in real terms.

Most entertainers are idiots. Their egos are so large that they can't put them aside and get along long enough to laugh all the way to the bank. There are several bands that would make a ton on cash if they would put things aside and get along long enough to do some reunion tours.

I got to play multiplayer last night for a bit and it definitely jacks up the fun to the next level. Cooperative was not quite as cool as I imagined, I think only playing the bass part is a bit boring. Maybe when we get better and play at the tougher levels. The real fun is Face Off mode, which was a blast. The players take turns doing sections but there is some overlap. I found the little breaks were perfect to give my hand a rest and focus for the next part. I did notice that the overlapped parts made it harder to play by ear but not a big deal. I highly recommend getting the extra guitar.

yea, my ps2 guitar was PLAGUED with this, even switching to the flat approach, some buttons still stuck, but i havent noticed it yet with the 360, but i've already trained myself to play flat so it wont happen.

I've been able to play with the tips of my fingers with no problem so far.

How do you guys play? On Easy, do you use 3 different fingers for the buttons or just move your hand?

3 fingers. On medium I use my pinky for the orange and blue (I think blue is the last one if not whatever color it is).

Definetly get use to using 3 fingers for the easy ones and then the pinky when you get into medium. If you try using one finger it will, I think, hinder your performance on the tougher songs. Goodluck!

yea, the 360 guitar is miles better in build quality, i wouldnt see too much of a problem. unless you're pressing really hard, like trying to hold down a string.

most people use GR3, meaning 1st finger plays green AND red, other fingers line up accordingly.

on easy though, just use 3 fingers, GRY

on medium, 4 fingers, GRYB

on hard, 4 fingers G+R, YBO

i personally use three fingers, and rest them on RYB, reach for green with 1st finger, reach for yellow with third finger, this method will hinder you later on. so i dont suggest learning that way.

Really? I've been using fingers 1,2,3 and 4 on G,R,Y,and B respectively (I'm obviously not playing Hard yet). Doesn't GR3 make GR cords confusing?
no, for GR chords you just shift your hand up a notch, it's pretty seemless, but most of the expert tough songs really dont use a lot of green so it's more benefitial to play with your hand shifted down. also it's a LOT easier to reach to green with your index than it is to reach to orange with your pinky.

but like i said, on medium, you're doing good with GRYB on 1234.

and learning on GRYB wont inhibit you when you switch to RYBO, cause by then it wont matter where your hands are, you know where the keys are, might be a little hard to explain, but it'll make sense later.

*laughs at the idea of ever getting to Expert level.

>>and learning on GRYB wont inhibit you when you switch to RYBO

i'm only six songs into medium, but maybe i'll go ahead and switch to RYBO now. no point in building neural pathways now that will be ignored later...

do you really "reach" for green or is it more of a slide? my pointer finger doesn't seem to have much lateral range.
