You'll laugh (or cry) at my solution. I had my center speaker mounted on a shelf attached to the top of my previuos DLP set. The shelf didn't work on this set, so I put the center speaker on a shelf behind the set. Of course, that caused all sorts of echos and muffled sound.
I solved my problem by unhooking the center speaker and reconfiguring my receiver to send the center speaker audio out the left/right speakers. I've been happy ever since.
On a related note, when I first got my amp, I sprung for the left and right surround speakers. I set all the right volumes levels for each of the speakers using a sound meter. That lasted for a month. My wife kept interrupting the show because she heard spurious sounds to her left. (Yep, she sat closer to the left surround speaker.) So, I yanked those speakers and repurposed them elsewhere.
I've never been happier than with my 2.1 system. :-)
