Should I upconvert at the DVD player and feed that signal to the TV? Or should I send the signal in it's original format and let the TV upconvert?
I am passing the signal through my Harmon Kardon Receiver via HDMI cable. However, my receiver just passes that signal through and doesn't convert it at all.
Finally, do all standard DVD movies show up the same or are some lower budget films simply not going to show up as well on the screen.
Right now I find that many films really pixelate for anything that's moving across the screen. When I play my Planet Earth DVD the non-movement shots are stunning, but when the camera pans or if they are zooming across the African Plains, there is a lot of pixillation.

I picked up the OPPO 980H based on recommendations from this sight and it does an oustanding job. I also bring this up because apparently not all chipsets like working with rear projection tv's - Oppo specifically recommends the 980h for rear projection over their other models. I'm no techie so you might want to look into this and possibly even consider returning the sony. I don't have any issues when it comes to "moving accross the screen"

Oh yes I ordered a Tosiba A2 to go with it,
