Yes, without question and the original firmware player was reviewed favorably by Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity. Another possibility if you want a Samsung Blu-ray player for exclusive DVD-V playback is the BD-P2500/2550. It also uses Silicon Optix Reon, offers the feature to force proper aspect ratio with 4:3 DVD, doesn't have audio dropouts at chapter breaks and in my opinion is the second best DVD-V player among all under $500 Blu-ray players. It is also much better than the BD-P1200 for Blu-ray and a full-featured Profile 2.0 Blu-ray player. That isn't saying much, it is in fact a crappy Blu-ray player as there is a long way from the BD-P1200 to be a good Blu-ray player. Because the BD-P2550 is not a good Blu-ray player, despite being fairly recent and with great features, it sells for low prices now. I recently lost out on an eBay auction at $78, second high bid.
