Yeah, but the Panny doesn't support 1080p24.
Back to the original issue (mine at least), I talked to a different level 2 tech just now and it was night and day compared to my call this afternoon. He said they would purchase (or get from Netflix ;>) Dreamgirls and see if they had the popup problem. He also said he would file a VOC (Voice Of the Consumer) report for my concerns over TrueHD/DTSHD support and would bring it up in their weekly VOC meeting. He said that customer input and problems were taken very seriously there and that they'll never leave people hanging out to dry. He said he didn't see any reason at all why there wouldn't be a firmware upgrade adding the support.
As for the popup problem with Dreamgirls, just to make sure it wasn't the player itself, I tried 'The Descent' tonight and it played fine and the popup menu worked fine (although the scene selection within it was *horrendously* slow - anyone else see this?), so at this point I think I'm going to give them a shot.
Returning the unit to buy.com would cost me a 15% restocking fee (since it's been opened), so that, plus the slightly warmer fuzzies the most recent tech gave me, I think I'm going to tough it out.
