ok guys, i hope im not opening a huge can of worms, but i think i might be.

(this is also my first post).

i read as much as i could about hdmi cables ect. to get a better knowledge about them. i still have a couple of questions...

first off. i have a brand new sony 46" xbr2 lcd.
i will be hooking up via. hdtv/digital cable.
soon will be adding a blu ray.(nothing for now)
my run will be about 12ft.

anyway. ive read a lot about the monster cables being a "scam". just buy a cheap one from monoprice ect.

whats the deal? with the length i described, do i need something like the silver serpent wire,? monster m1000 ect.?

this is my first big screen tv. i just want to do everything "right" and not cheap out on cables after spending a ton of $$ on a tv.

but if i dont need it , i wont spend all that money for nothing...

thanks for any help.

I really like the 24 AWG HDMI cable from Monoprice.com at that length. Cheap, hefty cable. You can get a 15 footer for $26. It looks and performs as good or better than the Monster Cables selling for over $100!!

If you start going any longer than that I'd switch over to their 22 AWG cable. Mighty, mighty thick stuff!

The lower the gauge the thicker the cable.

Yes, the monoprice or bluejeans cable will work, and save you money.
