Plugging in a PC through component cable (RGB), screen gives fuzzy look... help?

i plugged in a computer through RGB component cables and once the pc was turned on it gave a fuzzy single colored look (usually pink, sometimes green instead). i cant reall explain much more. the screen sometimes goes off and this comes back on. I currently have a Philips 50PF9431D/37. Any ideas? Do i need to explain this problem more?
EDIT: OK, I used the SVGA to RGBHV cables. I was told it would work before, but as you can see I'm having trouble. Does this TV even support it?

Your PC is outputting RGB component(used by some older PC monitors) through the VGA connector which is not the same as YPrPb component used by most TVs. The two versions are slightly different and cause confusion since they use the same cables.

They're very very different. All video signals use 75 Ohm coax cables.

So basically you're saying it's not going to work? Or is there a way to get it to work?

No, plugging an RGB signal into a component input wont work.
Use a transcoder to convert RGBHV to Component.

fiddysheqel,

A transcoder will work... but depending on the cost of it, it might be cheaper to buy a new video card with HDTV output (YPrPb).

ok so (yay) got a video card with dvi-output (at least, my bro knows what hes doing)... now the only thing needed is a DVI to HDMI cable...

so now, the question, any preferred places to look for a wire of this sort? are there some brands which i should shy away from?

please anyone?

OK so i went onto newegg to find some various wires...

any preferences in brand?

a) Link Depot 10 ft. HDMI To DVI Cable, Black Model HDMI-DVI-3
b) Link Depot 16 FT HDMI TO DVI Cable Model HDMI-DVI-5
c) Link Depot 3.3 FT DVI TO HDMI CABLE Model DVI-1-HDMI
d) AMC 3 ft. Premium Gold Series 1080p rated HDMI/DVI Model HDMI-DVI1

question: is there any difference between a, b, or c (apart from length of the cable)?

For the most part they are all the same.

Also try www.monoprice.com, they might have something priced better than newegg.
