upgrade from yamaha universal player

Thread Starter
I'm looking a possibly purchasing a marantz CD player to replace my yamaha universal player. Using analog outputs, what are the chances I'll notice an improvement in sound quality? (i have a marantz 4001 receiver and i wonder if they use the same DACs as in their cd players?) Right now i'm using analog out from my player.

Have you identified a problem with the current player? Are you sure your problems are not room accoustics or speakers?

I spent a lot of money trying to improve an issue with my bedroom system, and finally decided the problem was my bedroom, not my system.

blackacex2,

DAC quality between CDP and receiver really depends on the CDP. Some of the hot-rodded Ken Ishiwata models were quite tweaked.

If you find an improvement in sound quality, especially with a Marantz CDP with variable analog outputs, it may very well be due to output level differences alone.
