What the hell is a TC-1900?
That's not bad! I think I heard they are going to offer a 15" version as well.

The size sure looks good and the ability to add your own power is a bonus for a lot of people. Of course one could build it too...

It is probably a TC-1000 or TC-9 slightly modified to work better in that scenario...

Looks like a TC-9.
On the website it says the TC-9 will be renamed to the TC 1600, so unless one of the two sources was a typo I would assume this was a little better than a tc-9, maybe the same driver just more excursion.
That was the big issue with the TC9, lots of power handling, not enough excursion.
Very cool. Not really DIY but very cool nonetheless. I wonder how it will be recieved with the non-DIYers.
The 12" is nice, but if the 15" comes to fruition that would be a sweet unit!

Burn the commercial heretics!

Very good price IMHO '$1800 with a 2200 watt RMS external amplifier and dual IS-122's! ' Should make SVS take notice!

Who says it is an issue? Sure, it isn't 24, 28, 30, or 38, but its still a good performer. I doubt such a sub (the IS 122) would be tuned that low anyway.

It may not be Will. It just seems like that is awfully low when compared to the other offerings at TCS, especially when thing can handle 1000 watts RMS.

Hence the (24, 28, 30, 38) bit I said.

But, keep in mind that the xmech is still 37mm, like the TC-1000, yet it also has a much stronger motor and higher power handling.

Interesting that the Xmech is that far from the Xmax!??!

Nice, thanks! I think the passive versions are the real deals in that lineup. $700 for the 15 does not sound that bad to me. I may have to get one and try it out....

Holy hell that is awesome!

If they can get some nice amps in there ... lookout DIY hehehe

The nice thing is that you can add your own plate amp to the passives or outboard pro amp. It is kind of a hybrid DIY...kinda...sorta.
Yeah ... it lets us do the final in-room tweaking without the expense of an included SMS or something like that .... we get to choose our EQ

I hope TC can handle these projects AND produce drivers at full capacity.
Only time will tell, but I sure hope they take the necessary steps to increase production to acceptable levels. It seems something, if not most things are cotinually out of stock.

What about amps for these passive units? It's probably a topic worthy of a novel, but do you use conventional amps for these subs or ???? Do subs come with their own requirments for amplification?

You can use any type of amp you want. That is the nice thing about the passives. I believe that the back panel on these units is removable in case one needs to service them (ala blown driver). You could mount any plate amp in this panel. There are a myriad of plate amps available from numersouse sources, eD makes a nice 1300 watt model that would do nicely.

Also, you could use any outboard amp like pro amp or ButtKicker as well.

TC Showed ICEPower amps at CES with the BeastIII .... if those were availible for the same $$ as the BK or ED ... I'd take the ICEPower for sure.

No doubt, but I bet there is a premium for those.

TC Sounds will end up using external amps(for TheBEAST),making a limited production multi kilowatt plate amp is not economical. At all,JL is alone doing this now.And they have a full R&D and design team for every part.

JL Audio is one of the very few to have a fully custom mega plate amp in the Fathom and a monster plate in the Gotham.Almost all others(SVS,Klipsch,HSU...name name and name them)use off shelf or close plate amps from a major plate amp giant in Ontario(assembled in China).

And having external amps will be better, amps less stressed by vibrations.
$600 extra for the 1100 watt amp? The kilowatt buttkicker amp is a lot less than that. Or is that the ICEpower price premium?
1100 watts per channel (2 channels) its a 2k+ watt amp total.
Oh ok. Makes more sense now.
