Windows Live Beta Invites Sent

Just got mine.

The only game to download is something called Bug Bash ... essentially a 3 frame version of Whack-A-Mole using the face buttons. I use the 360/Vista Wireless USB adaptor and a 360 controller and it's seamless. Seems to take forever to actually log into Live, but I had my 360 on in the background and it disconnects the 360 from Xbox Live by signing into Windows Live.

Mostly developers playing Bug Bash. Including someone with what looked like a Halo 3 icon and hundreds of games of Bug Bash already. Can't seem to get higher than 49 hits in the game. I sent a friend invite to one guy mostly to screw him up during the game ... it worked.

Had to sign up for testing times this weekend ... assuming there's going to be more games available, and more 360-Vista crossover coming soon. Only crashed once so far, and the game can get stuck at times ... that's what a beta's for I guess.

Anyone else invited?

What is Windows Live?

XBOX Live for PC.

I got my beta invite as well and basically just used bug bash as a chat room with some of the other people already playing. Windows Live worked well for me and I immediately got flooded with messages asking what the heck was bug bash. Hopefully we will get a shot at Halo 2 or Shadowrun during the beta to really test out all the Live features

I figure they have to be planning on Halo 2 at the very least. Bug Bash is kind of amusing, and I finally hit 50 after scoring 49 countless times, but it's insanely simple. 3 frames of animation simple. Still, it's a good preliminary way to test the system out. It crashed a few times on me in Vista 64.

I really like accessing Live through Windows. Everything works as it does on the 360 ... the guide comes up from the center very smoothly, and access is very quick after the first install. Sent some messages to friends from my PC and was surprised by how well it worked.

I noticed that the Bug Bash leaderboards were just over 1100 last night ... seems like they might have sent out 1500-2000 invites, but I'm just guessing. I'll be trying it out again tonight, if only for a shot at some of those promised free games.

What I'm really hoping they do with Live for Windows is have a background app that allows you to pick up a controller, hit guide, and have the 360 window pop up from anywhere in Vista. Then let you select a game quickly and easily (preferrably without having to insert a disc ... I hate DVD checks for games that are online and need to be verified every time they load anyway). As it is now the only way we have to turn off the controller is to pull the battery.

I got mine today too, but I'm in the XBOX360 Group. I don't get to test on the PC.

What do you mean? if you got the Windows Live beta invite it is exclusively on the PC.

WRONG.

Welcome to the Games for Windows - Live Beta (360)

1. Turn on your Xbox 360 and open the Xbox 360 Dashboard
2. Navigate to the Xbox Live blade
3. Select Xbox Live Marketplace
4. Select Redeem Code
5. Enter the token you received in your acceptance email. Note that the code should be 25 characters long, the dashboard will fill in the -s for you.
6. Select Download Now

im in on the 360 version too

think about it, if they're testing windows live, they need to test connections between pc's and 360's, and in turn would be testing on both sides.

I stand corrected thanks for the clarification but my question is this what the heck are you playing on the 360? more bug bash?
yea, i'm guessing they're testing interconnectivity between pc and 360, voice chat, invite system, ETC

info on d/l blade says

"bug bash is a multi-player cross-platform beta test."

cant say much due to the NDA, but the interface/lobby is stolen from Uno.

I got locked in a competitive streak with some guy I found online last night ... most of those 35 were against him. I even sent him a friend invite just before a match to screw him up. Good thing he accepted.

I am in, via PC.

I can't seem to get into the game. Windows LIVE keeps telling me to create a gamer profile but I have and I'm automatically signed in. Bugbash doesnt think I have a profile going. What is going on? I'm on Windows Vista.

I'm on via 360. Nice assortment of gamerpics... that's about it.

Windows Live is the intergration of windows and xbox "Live" users...thus why people are playing on both ends. Ideally, MS wants you to play a game with the same user both on different platforms. Similar to what SQ/Enix did with FF11

I'm in on the pc side. Good thing too. I put my 360 premium on craigs list about 20 minutes after the official elite announcement and sold it a couple days later. I got no 360 until the 29th, even later if circuit city flounders on my preorder.

Bugbash is a totally stupid game but it is not supposed to be a real game. It is there to work out the live pc/360 connectivity and test things like lag, audio and loads. Bug bash, to work out the bugs if that wasn't fully obvious.
