I currently have an Energy ESW-M6 800 (I'm pretty sure its not the M8 1200). Its really good especially for how small it is.
Of course comparing to other subs I have and had which are not saying much consisiting of a Philips and Sony soundbar subs, an older low end Deftech sub, and a decent sized but cheaper Yamaha sub.
So the Energy has been the best sub I've owned and suprisingly seems to give a ton of base in my medium large size room with 2 story ceiling and open on 2 of 3 sides. back left corner placement helps and so does the fact that the DefTech BP6's have some bass to them. But they are the smallest lowest end deftech BP floor standing speakers as their is BP8 and BP10.
I love the looks of it and small footprint but I am upgrading the BP6's and DefTech Mythos 7 center (been the weakest link of my setup in which dialog is not loud enough) to 3 DefTech Mythos XTR-60 (biggest XTR model) for LCR.
This should be a pretty significant upgrade to the BP6's except that because the Mythos XTR line are thin and wall mountble, ppl say they dont have a ton of bass to them so its good I am upgrading the Sub.
my local audio/video boutique has recommended the Sunfire True subwoofer super junior and for a good price of $500 something and saying that it wont be much bigger then the Energy (think i have the 6" and the sunfire is 8") but will be a decent upgrade. That its a great sub. They are expert audio philes but also the selling party so dont know that I can trust them 100% other then the fact that, they bought a bunch of these so obviously they believe in it.
This article reviews 3 mini subs including the Sunfirehttp://www.soundandvisionmag.com/con...-killer-subs-3
I'd be interested to see how the Energy mini stacked up against these 3 but it would probably be closer to the Pinnacel which was the smallest of the 3.
Personally I like what they say about the Velodyne SPL-800R but the bottom line of the review seems to pick the Sunfire as the winner.
I actually kind of have the space for a decent sized sub in the back left corner of my room but especially once I eventually wall mount the right and left low speakers (currently floor standing) It would be even better to have a small sub and I have gotten used to it beign small and that way I could fit it somewhere else possibly.
The Sunfire will be a little bigger then the Energy mini and sounds like an upgrade but in this smaller size range or possibly bigger (since I guess I can accomodate it) are there any other subs I should consider? But still within the $500 something price range my store is offering me on the Sunfire (which I can probably get down to 500 even or lower possibly).
