Well, I just placed my order for the 805 with J&R. Couldn't wait for the wife to give her approval. And besides, since I won't physically have it for about a month, it may soften the blow. As I was printing the manual just now, she came in and looked on the printer, looked at me and gave a knowing smile....
The sales guy at J&R was nice to me. Don't know what all the fuss is about. He assured me they will have black as well as silver and I confirmed (twice) that mine will be black.
I am looking forward to using the individual channel EQs. As I have said in other posts, I run 3 EQs to outboard amps to get a flat response (at the listening position) with pink noise from Avia (I think they have the full range pink noise a little better than DVE...). The onboard channel EQs will enable me to do the same thing without the outboard processing. However, I am concerned because my Klipcsh Forte II's, and Academy Center have a strong spike (~15db) at 16khz and toll off sharply after that. The onboard EQ only goes to 16khz, so if I roll off the natural spike and am unable to boost the 20khz (as with the outboard EQs), I will essentially lose everything above 16khz. This distresses me. I may end up using the EQs in conjunction with the onboard EQs....not sure. I listen to alot of SACD and prefer a "flat" response for those and any music. And no, I will not get rid of my Klipsch for a speaker that will go to 20khz flatly, because I love my Klipschs (?)!
I guess life is pretty good if all I have to worry about is how to get flat response to 20khz
Looking forward to the learning curve with the new 805 and seeing the "official" thread open up.
