2007 Onkyo AVR (TX-NR905, TX-SR875,805,705,605,575,505) Anticipation Thread - Page 2

The quotes on that German page were removed but I found them on Google cache. One part translates to this: "with the introduction of the new products at the same time for years exist TX-NR5000 and TX-SR8xx closed", does this mean they are killing off the TX-NR5000?

Can anyone put up a working link for the Catalogue?

I noticed a couple of inconsistancies in the catalog (Most noticable is the overview of the 3 TI DSP Chips for THD & HD MA it has it for the 905-705 neglecting the 605 yet the entry for the 605 states it's entry level for THD & HD MA) The J&R entry also neglects THD&HD MA support as well. *EDIT: It looks like all J&R did was copy and paste their 604 page and change a few things. Jury is still out on if it's THD & HD MA though. Amazon has THD & HD MA listed on the 805 only
I have the catalog Downloaded. I noticed I tried to open it off the site and get errors. I would suggest right click>Save target as. If that doesn't work maybe someone can host it. It is almost 2.5mb so it's too big to upload here.
I think the owner of the site has removed all the links to the catalogue and removed the PDF file from the site (He did this today)

Well if you want I can send it to you. I think he's probably adding the 2 new THIB that he reported on today.
EDIT: Apparently not I think he got Slammed He has a Message up in german stating: "Illustrations and product information up til the official release are no longer available" Also on the side is a message stating:
"Who would like to receive further information at the today's time, must unfortunately fall back to the American web page by AMAZON or jr.com. Additionally NEWS is available to new pro-ducked on the Onkyo Asia and Oceania web page." I don't see much on the Asia and Oceania webste except the 505 and 575 just like the US site.

I'm glad to see that a CE vendor is finally adding quality video processing to their receivers.

For those who aren't aware, the ReonVX in the TX-SR875 and TX-NR905 is superior to the video processing found in 99% of consumer displays. When properly implemented, it offers comparable performance to the ~$2000 video processors you see discussed over in the Video Processors forum.

Assuming Onkyo properly implements the ReonVX, almost everyone should see an improvement in picture quality -- on both SD and HD signals -- with those receivers. On the other hand, solutions based on Faroudja DCDi almost always degrade video quality, rather than improving it.

The 905 will be the last one to hit the streets (August).

I dunno where you got that info but I like it. That time spacing would lead me to believe 705 & 805 in June (Seeing as those 2 are up on Amazon already) and 875 in July (and the 875 and 905 are not on Amazon) maybe?

I am new to the world of AV (planning on upgrading my 27" CRT to an HDTV of some kind mid summer) and was wondering if any of these receivers are capable of taking in multiple signals through both HDMI and component, and then outputting the signal to the TV on a single HDMI cable, or if I would need an HDMI cable and a component cable connecting the receiver and TV? I will be connecting a gaming PC (DVI=>HDMI cable) a DVD player (component), cable receiver/DVR (component) and a Wii (component) initially, with plans for replacing the DVD player with an XBox 360 Elite (HDMI) a few months later.

The 605 looks right about in my price range with features I would want, although I could probably find the extra cash to get the 705 if I can get a good deal on it. I am lazy and would love to have my AV cabinet with game systems and DVD player near the couch for easy disk changing, and then have as few cables as possible running up to the TV. Also, if there are any other receivers you think would work better (looking to spend no more than $600, and would prefer to spend less) feel free to toss ideas my way.

Assuming the 605 is a direct replacement of the 604. The 604 would output all Non-HDMI Video signals to Component out and of course HDMI IN would output HDMI. The 705 (assuming once again it's a Replacement of the 674) had all Video inputs sent out via HDMI. For an extra $300 to the 705 you get the one HDMI connection for all Video output, an extra HDMI Input, THX Cert, Upgraded Room Acoustics Correction and an extra 5-10watts/CH. It'll probably Street for about $699 (MSRP is $799) maybe less It'll take about a couple months of it being out in the wild for it to have a more compatative price. You could pick up a 674 Now for about $500-550 (Which is much like the 705) if you don't want to wait.

If the 605 turns out to have THD & HD MA at that price point I'm kicking myself for purchasing the 604 last week. This thread was posted litteraly 1 day after I purchased it. It's returnable with a 15% hit, so it's really not worth it. I suppose I have a PS3 so it really doesn't matter much because the PS3 will do the decoding itself.

Oh well, at least I saved $100.

the 604 is still a nice avr though We won't know any "Real" specs until Onkyo decides to post it on their website in (Hopefully) a couple of weeks. I think they posted the 505/575 infor close to 1 month before release.
As I said, since I have a PS3 and only a 5.0 setup, there is no advantage a 605 would be for me if Sony follows through with their promise and adds full internal lossless format audio decoding support as they claimed they would. That remains to be seen though...

The info for the 505, 575 and 605 comes from the latest Onkyo USA Product Availability info for dealers from this past week.
Not too interested in all the onboard decoding and "Deep Color", but it'd be nice to know how these handle LFE over HDMI, if it's at least adjustable. Apparently, with the 604 only the analog 5.1 inputs allow this.
Looks like the 705 is shaping up to be the cheapest 3 input receiver around. Hope we see some reviews soon.
The 605 looks like somthing I definitely will get when it comes out with my new HDTV. Just wondering what would be good speakers with this receiver?

Do you know if the 605 will be able to upcomvert every source to HDMI so I only have to run one cable? Or will you have to output the same way the sources were input?
Looks like a few more stats on the 805. Looks to have 130 watt/ch.

From what i gather the 605 should convert all 480i to 480p and send it out via HDMI right?

"Full A/V Processing via HDMI 1.3a with Upconversion (2 in 1 out)"

Thats what that means right?

It says in the pdf, for the 505,575,605,705,805 "Signal is output at it's input resolution with no scaling" I think what they're trying to imply here as you quoted above is it'll Up convert it to either a Component or HDMI out from a Composite or S-Video. This is as it's stated in the pdf. In order to get FULL up conversion to 1080P you need the 875 or 905.

I see preouts on the back of the 805 don't see why they wouldn't carry on to 875 and 905.

Edit: After reading on the pdf a bit it looks like there's preouts from the 605 up to the 905. The 505 and 575 just have the obligitory Subwoofer preout.

Thanks for checking Ohgami. Looks promising.

The site it was on pulled it but I luckily saved it before he pulled it I'll send.

i noticed on the 805 it indicates THX Ultra 2 certification. At that price point has THX Select been discontinued or something? Not use to seeing that level of certification unless your spending 3-4 times the cost of the 805.
Id like the pdf too if anyone can forward.

Thanks!

It says the ONLY Select2 Reciever Onkyo will offer is the 705. The 805/875&905 will all be Ultra2. I think this is one of the most "Solid" line ups I've seen out of all the AVR CE. All pretty much are a big Bang for the buck imo.

dc_pilgrim: Thanks much.

I just bought a Denon 887 receiver and now I am having 2nd thoughts..... I did a quick comparision between the Onkyo 674 and the Denon and one thing I don;t understand is why the 674 states is only accepts LPCM 5.1 via HDMI.

My Denon receives LPCM 7.1/5.1 over HDMI. If I return my Denon and wait for the 705 or 805 will they support the 7.1 over HDMI?

Comments????
THX Ultra 2 at that price is beyond a price drop! Man everything with that logo on it is usually crazy expensive. Not saying THX Ultra 2 is the end all of end all necessities. I'm just shocked that those pieces aren't Select models at those price points. Maybe THX has a new hi-end certification they are going to start using in the near future and this will be the new mid level THX certification.

If you can hold off, I would return the Denon. The HDMI 1.3 and built-in decoder for Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD MA will at least let you listen to the new sound tracks in certain bluray movies. Also, there are 3 HDMI inputs in some of the new Onkyo receivers. PS3 does not yet have the DTS HD MA decoding and I don't know if it ever will. I have a Denon 2803 right now. I was tempted to get one of the HDMI 1.1 receivers but now I think I will wait a few months.

With the benchmark pricing on these Onkyo's I can't imagine what type of a hit people are going to take when they try to sell their exsisting receiver to move up to these features. I can only imagine!
