It all depends on the speakers you get. Since it has no 7.1 channel analog pre-amp outputs, you could not add a separate power multi-channel amplifier (or monoblocks, or whatever combo you want) and turn this receiver into a pre-amp.
Some speakers are very easy to drive like those from Klipsch (though very fatiguing IMHO) and may not need a lot of power to drive them. Others may dip into the 6, 4, or below ohm range (an ohm is a measurement of resistance in a line) and could be difficult for this little guy to power.
I think some people here are just jumping at the first chance to own something (anything!) with TrueHD and Master Audio decoding, nevermind the sound quality or compatibility of certain features.
If you care about any of these things, you might want to wait until the summer when there may be more options available... one's with better processors, better DAC's, more HDMI inputs/outputs, and 7.1 pre-amp outs to add power amps if you so desire.
