Slight static sound in one speaker

Hi all,

I just hooked up my new amp to my new speakers and have a slight static sound coming from my rear (side) speakers. This is how they are hooked up.

I have a pioneer elite 84 into the Emotiva MPS-1 amp. I have to use unbalanced connectors. Again, it is coming out of one speaker. Cannot hear once the movie or music is started. All my equipment is hooked into a Monster signature power conditioner. Tryed hooking the amp to the wall socket, did not change. Any thoughts?

Rest of my equipment:
Samsung 1080P 61'' DLP
Pioneer Elite 84
Emotiva MPS-1
Toshiba Xa2 HD DVD
Panasonic Blu-ray
xbox 360
Focal 836v speakers
Focal CC800v
Focal SR 800v

thanks

Switch the cables at the amp between the two surround speakers. See if the static moves to the other speaker or stays put.

That'll tell you if it's the amp or the speaker.

Already did and the static switched to the other speaker.

Hmmm. Going one step backward, have you switched the pre-outs from your Pioneer to see if the sound swaps sides?

If you rule out the speakers and the Pioneer, and it's definitely just one channel making noise, I'd get the manufacturer involved. Or if it's really brand new right out of the box, return it and get another one.
