why is my dvd recorder powering off

can someone help on my TOSHIBA RD-XS35.after a few hours of being on it powers off,cant seem to find out why its doing this....anyone know is there something wrong with this unit.

If it happens when you're not using it, it may have some sort of power-saver device.

As scalag said, it may have a power-saving device.

Check the set-up menu. Sounds like a power-off setting has been set.

If it happens while you are using it, then there is something wrong with the unit.

well im using it while I watch satellite I have it going through my toshiba for recording purposes,IM new to this system,but I must have touched something when i was trying to learn this very hard unit but thx for your help would you know where to look,i think i have checked every menu this unit has.

If you leave the recorder turned on without executing any action for about 3 hours, a message will appear on the TV
asking you want to continue watching TV.
If you want to continue watching TV, press ENTER.
If you do not press ENTER, the recorder will automatically turn off within about 10 minutes.
