Im not sure if this is the right place to put this question, feel free to move it or point me to the right place if this is wrong.
Im trying to get HDTV files that end in the extension of .MKV and convert them to .TS files. I can do this with varous methods, but they all result in a TS file that has been down-res'd so badly that I refeuse to watch it.
I want to be able to preserve the 5.1 audio, as well as the 1280x720p res, plus the orignal high bit rate.
Id also like to find a way to do this with .AVI files as well. Most avi files are not in hdtv formats, several are at least higher then stdv.
The reason I want .TS files to to send them via firewire to my JVC HDVCR for simple display on my Componenet video HDTV and 5.1 audio over fiber---both come from the vcr.
IS this at all possible?
