Rs What?

Oh boy where do I start......

I've spent WAY TOO MUCH TIME away from my CRT's. WAY TOO MUCH!!!!!

I'm sitting here right now watching ONE G90 on my 10ft wide SMX screen and am just in absolute AWE! Seriously. Just incredible.

So damn what if it is only doing maybe 6 to 7 foot lamberts. Give me gamma and give me inky blacks that just make you want to cry. It's absolutely sick. I love it.

There is no way in hell that I would even think about trading a single G90 for a RS1 let alone ANY digital projector period.

I've seen one of the best that digital has to offer this year and while it really is needed (the light output) for a big ass screen, for my screen size (10ft wide), there is no way in hell that ANY DIGITAL is going to come even close to TOUCHING what the G90 is capable of. Not for a very LONG TIME.

This projector is nothing short of AMAZING.

1080P from my HTPC RAZOR sharp. Yeah, a bit out of focus on the sides but by all means not at ALL DISTRACTING from the "whole picture". This thing rocks.

Hehe, Ken comes by on Thursday to make it two.

Digital can kiss my ass. The G90 is still king. Will be for a VERY long time.

Maybe one day Mr. Parker will finally even get the Marquee up to par with my babies.

Loving it. Loving it. Loving it........

Glad to hear this Cliff. You made me nervous a few weeks back when you were all excited about the RS1. I think that they are making exciting advances in digital projectors, but they will probably always have digital issues that bother me (disposable construction and instantaneous obsolescence). I agree that the G90 is an impressive piece of equipment. I look forward to doing some more tweaking once I get my G90 repaired and my SMX screen up. Audio system is done!

Tryg likes digitals

Actually, I haven't even tried it yet. But my new speaker system requires me to switch to an AT screen. The SMX is here. I could put it up... but the G90 is still down

Them fightin' words they is!

Obviously there is bias here, with many marquee owners saying a MPv2 modded 9500 beats a G90 or at least gives it a run for its money. I'll reserve judgement when I see both yours and Art's stacks. BUT, from what I've seen of MP's latest mods beyond v2... there isn't a CRT capable of it. He is completely resolving 1080p@72... can your G90 do that? Not even the Cine9!

Yummy... MPv2+ mods, HFQ900 lenses, blended Ultra's.... 13' wide unity gain scope screen ... the RS1 doesn't stand a chance!

Cliff,
I think you are a good guy, but there is just that thing about you where you don't express yourself.

My G90 Yawns at Mike Parker.

Seriously though, can't wait until the meet. Maybe Mikey poo will get the energy to fly out to Chicago to play with my G90 boards.

I haven't tried 72hz yet. Maybe I'll do that tonight!

So, so, so, so nice to have my theater back now.

See I told you so..... remember back when you were debating the move to digital... I said that once past a certain point forget about the foot lamberts and enjoy the kick arse picture that even one g90 would throw and that the wiz bang digital flavor of the moment would eventually show it's weaknesses. I can't find the post or PM to prove it but I distinctly remember the conversation.

Anyway told ya so

Enjoy the kick arse picture man!

Damn, I was hoping you were going to say it's my stack at MY MEET!!!!!!

I do remember you saying that the G90 video chain is very complicated to mod.

someday. I'm waiting for a sub $1000 digital to beat the $60,000 super CRT setups you guys have Maybe next summer?
Come on Tryg... for 60k you could buy 3 Barco 909s and a blendzilla rig. And have change left over . Cliff's rig is at most 12k-14k. There's still PLENTY of digitals in that range isn't there?
with processors and the construction crew to hang them, materials, professional calibrators. Hey it adds up.

I dont know what the cost is I just didn't want to insult him by low balling the cost. I'm pretty sure it isn't 12-14K

You would be correct on that assumption.

I was the construction crew that hung them though.

Um... Tryg. All of those apply to digitals also. I was talking the pure machine price. And I have no idea what Cliff paid, but $6k for a good condition G90 isn't that rare now.

Mad,

After tubes, shipping, and a DF board replacement, I have roughly 17K into the two.
