Purchase of Dish 211 H.D.Receiver?

Since im getting real close to going the HD package route with Dish,i was wondering if there is an alternative to purchasing form Dish,since they want $299.00 or a $6.00 per month surcharge for the 211 HD receiver.I figured with all the wisdom on this site,someone would have the inside track.Thanks!

Lot's of new and used 211's on Ebay. A bunch cheaper than buying from Dish. I waited until one popped up at a decent buy it now price and jumped on it!

Ask Dish about their deal on the Vip622 HDTV DVR.

You will regret it if you choose the 211 over the 622.

I have had the 622 for a year - actually today is exactly one year. When I got my 622 I moved my old Dish 6000 into the bedroom thinking I would get a HDTV there soon. Well my wife bought me a 37" LCD HDTV for the bedroom recently (have I got a great wife or what). However the 6000 doesn't get all the MPEG4 channels which is many of them including now the Los Angeles locals. The bottom line is I need to exchange my 6000 for a 211. What is this going to set me back? Does Dish have any deals for me? Ideally since I have been a loyal and good customer for 7 years they would give it to me free with only an 18 month commitment extension.
