My older Denon prologic receiver 2500 drove the goldi speakers for a while. Then i switched to a sony9000es and an ati1505. The difference was real. Now the music is smooth. Listening to the denon is painful-scratchy like chalk but the sony/ati combination is very 'musical' (I hate cliches but it's true). The new 2.o1 upgrade to the sony also makes a great difference and the matrix 6.1 mode really gives a 360 feel to the sound. You can pick one up for ~1000 and its the best value in pre/pro available today.
