You should be able to receive ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX East OR West in MPEG2, but only if you are permissioned for those channels - and remember, those will not be around for many more years - nor do you need a 5lnb dish to pick those up now, if so permissioned.
No one knows what will happen as the Ka Conus signals as they have not gone online yet.
As for the Ka Spotbeams, there really is no way to know until you actually do it - and it would be a Spotbeam from an American City very close to you. I am not aware of any Canadian receiving a Ka Spotbeam at this point from that is not right on the US-Canadian Board (such as Windsor).
However, the new Ka Spotbeams are steerable, so what works today might not work tomorrow.
So the bottom line is, except in a some border areas, you cannot pick up anything in HD with the 5 lnb dish that you cannot with the 3 lnb dish AT THIS POINT as the Conus Ka satellites are not in place.
