If you guys don't mind waiting a week to get it myself and a couple other forum members got it for $938.00 shipped by calling the folks at http://www.mediasupplystore.com

Their number is (800) 451-1425
Unfortunately, mediasupplystore does not have this for 925 + shipping any longer. They are currently priced at 985 + shipping :-((

I asked B&H for the costco price of $999.99 and they are shipping it to me at that price.

This is competitive marketing at its best and one can readily see what can happen when a mfg takes off the pricing handcuffs to its retail resellers. This camera is a steal at list , imo. With all the buzz about it, retailers are expecting heavy demand and as long as the supply pipes remain full, then the pricing wars will continue for the consumer's $$ .

I'm not sorry I paid list, though. It was important to get my hands on this little baby before the Easter holiday. I waited as long as I could for the local B&M stores to get inventory but it wasn't meant to be. I knew prices could drop and most of those stores have their "competitive" pricing guarantee that offers refund of any lower price within 30 days.

How long before the price of this camera drops to normal discounted levels?
Just picked mine up from Circuit City. $204 off of list price and free cheap tripod and case package. Wish there was no tax through. I am still happy.

I picked mine up at around 10% off but what do you consider to be a "normal discounted level"?

Got mine this morning at Bestbuy for $993 after tax (the cashier stacked the current sale price of $1045 with a 12% Reward Zone coupon - about a $175 discount). Plus I should get about $50 in reward zone certificates.
Thought the 12% reward zone coupon didn't work on HD camcorders, I tried and they told me they can't apply the discount...hmmpphhh

If you live in the Washington DC area Penn Camera has them on the shelf for $999. I picked one up from them a couple of weeks back.

It all depends who checks you out... They aren't actually supposed to give you the sales price either before applying the coupon...

The deal ended yesterday morning. They had it on sale at circuitcity.com for $1040 with an additional 10% off which brings it down to $936 and then I used the $40 off USPS coupon floating around online to get it to $896. Also the store offer a free bag and tripod with any HD camcorder purchase.
