VSX-84TXSi - IPOD - what am I doing wrong?

ok, so my VSX-84TXSI is up to date with newest firmware, is sounding awesome, but I can't seem to figure out an issue with the Ipod. each time I start the ipod on the receiver the same sequence of songs keeps repeating.

If I go to shuffle songs, it always starts off with the same song, and by going forward or backward a song, the same sequence still continues.

I have to imagine that like the Ipod itself, or Itunes, that a completely new sequence would be selected each time you start 'er up. So - what am I doing wrong?

Does it do the same thing when not hooked up to the 84? When was the last time you updated the iPod? I plug a 30gb video or my wife's nano into the 84 and have not had any problems with the shuffle function. My wife and I have current updated in our iPods and the latest firmware for our receiver. My guess is the iPod. $.02

i will try to update, but I think it already has the latest version. will do that now.

There is also a reset you can do on your ipod..

On the video it is switch the hold switch to hold mode and then back and then press the Menu and cetner button at the same time..

I've had my ipod get in a funk both after docking it to my pc and when I move it over to my 82..
