Just got a universal DVD player recently. Before that I just had DVD-A capabilities, so I was able to now get some SACD's. Anyhow, it seems to me that most muti-channel SACD's seem a bit "hotter" than DVD-A's. Is this the case?
Hotter in the sense of louder overall? That's going to be down to your equipment, to a large degree. The digital systems used are quite different, so it's quite possible that the equipment will have a volume difference between the two, depending on how they aligned them.
If you mean hotter in the sense of more bass, then maybe you have a player (like certain Samsungs) which don't handle SACD LFE correctly.
The Loudness Wars do not differentiate between formats. Depends on the title and the creative decisions of the band/label/mastering engineer.
Still...
There are substiantially more classical/acoustic releases on SACD, and those titles are rarely aggressively dynamically limited. So the SACD format, as a whole, may actually have fewer titles that have fallen victim to the Wars.

What I mean by hotter is that (example : fixed at -25 MV) the SACD's I have sound overall a bit louder than the DVD-A's at the same MV. BTW, I use a Denon DVD-2200 DVD player.

Have you compared identical titles on SACD and DVD-A? Measurements?
Of course, identical titles might truly be different, so.......................
