Would this be an upgrade?

I presently have an Infocus 7200 and was thinking of changing (upgrading?) to the Sharp XVZ12000 MK11 .
Does anyone think this would be an upgrade or just a lateral move.
I don't really have the $ for a 1080p machine at this time.
If I did buy the Sharp, what's the going resale market for the 7200? It's got 329 hours, ceiling mounted in a nonsmoking house.
Thanks

I have an InFocus 7210 and a friend of mine has a Sharp Z12000 MKI...in my opinion both projectors have there relative strengths and weakenesses with the end result that in my view -- i.e. to my eyes -- after spending 100's pf hours watch both is similar environments -- i.e. similar lighting, identical screens, etc. -- the OVERALL differences are minor at best and thus i would consider it a lateral move.

Joel,
I have a 7200, you are already 2 levels ahead of me in regards to TI chip.

not sure that i agree with you as:

1. yes, there was a difference between the 7200 and 7205 but...the difference between the 7205 and 7210 was`minimal at best, in fact i saw them side by side and opted for the 7210 because a new 7205 was not available...

2. the ability to see the difference depends on your physical environment/setup..

Again, I HAVE a 7200, not 7205 or 7210.

Predominately dark movies are going to be a lot more enjoyable on the Sharp. I think that benefit will be real and tangible. That said it is still a lateral move resolution wise and since you have so few hours on a good performing projector, that has minimal resale value, it may be better to wait until you have more money to spend or for the 1080 prices to fall. With new DLP 720P projectors selling for less than 1K I would think your 7200 would be more valuable for you to keep as a backup.
