idle computer eventually reboots

My htpc reboots to a black screen when it's been idle for a long time (hours). This happens during the day or night. I've never actually seen it happen, since it only does it when I'm not using it. In order for me to reboot, I have to restart and go into the bios and switch the boot drive back to #1 in the order. It seems like the boot drive disconnects after being idle for a long time, then the computer does not see it as #1 drive upon it's reboot.

I do not suspend, sleep, etc., and all powersaving options are off in the control panel.

Any suggestions?

This sounds like system instability. Your CMOS data is being cleared, which normally happens to me when I overclock too much. I would check to make sure you aren't running anything at a higher clock speed than it is rated for.

Thanks for the reply!

Well, the only setting that changes in the BIOS is the hard drive setting. All of the others stay put. It's weird that it only happens when the computer has been idle.

I read about disabling restart on system error in order to get a BSOD, which should show the error. So, I'm going to try that tonight
