Any experience with sub staying in Standby?

Thread Starter
So I finally got my x-sub today, hooked it up, went through audio setup via the YPAO function on my Yamaha 2600, etc... and started putting the system through its paces.

Since then, I keep running into times (more often than not) when the sub is going into standby mode... either not coming out of standby when I power up my system or going into standby during use. Does anyone have any similar experiences or recommendations?

I am certain that the connection is fine, as it went through calibration without incident, and it has worked at times... it just doesn't seem to be getting a consistent signal for some reason - or it doesn't recognize the signal it's getting.

Help would be appreciated...

A few things that can help. Are your fronts set to Large or Small? Setting them to small and cross over at 80hz will send all bass info below 80hz to the sub. Also, you can up the signal being sent from the receiver to the sub in the receivers menu and back the volume knob on the sub to compensate. Another thing you can do is put a Y-splitter on the subs end to get a little more signal to both inputs. The Ypao settings are not set in stone and you can change them as needed. The auto calibration programs in most brands tend to miss a few things like setting small speakers to large and such. If you are using the receivers cross over be sure to turn the crossover on the sub all the way up or to the off position if it has one. This should all help, GL.

I agree. Most auto systems are not that accurate. I suggest you calibrate your system manually.
