If anyone is connected inside that could pull off getting HD-DVD movies as freebies I'd think it'd be you.

BTW last night I saw Under Siege on HD-DVD. I hadn't seen the movie in almost eight years (skipped the DVD entirely since it came out early in the format's cycle so I knew it was a crap transfer) and it was a solid Tier 2-3 transfer. Solid PQ, excellent AQ (make sure you lower the volume when the ship fires the cannons that send Tommy Lee Jones flying... it's LOUD!) and good, solid stunts with some good action/explosions. If it weren't for the times we live in and terrorist wasn't such a dead-serious issue the movie would be more fun than what it is: an unpretentious guy action flick. Even Segal is tolerable when he hams.

I might buy an HD-DVD movie later today (probably "Blood Diamond") but I'm still broke and not sure I can afford more than $25. But since the 2 million HD-DVD players from Walmart are coming I think we don't have to be paranoid about these amazon.com sales anymore. It's not like HD-DVD is going away anytime soon!

He said that he gets the HD-DVD free in his response, but he just wanted to help the cause.

I will be giving these away as gifts at various events, including the upcoming Home Theater Cruise children charity.

I personally do get them for free. And we get advanced encodes the same way. For final goods though, we go ahead and buy them like you all do, to support the format. Per my earlier note and above, I give out a lot of titles and so this is as good as time as any to replenish our stock for that purpose.

Yes, this is one of my favorite movies. And I just saw it on TV last week in my hotel, making me buy it.

HD DVD is not going away . But we need to get the other studios to see they are leaving money on the table, everyday they wait. So if folks can afford it, let's go ahead and send some money toward Amazon (or your favorite retailer)...

Nice to see that amirm, always the diplomat, removed from my quotes my reference to Andy Parsons as more intolerable than Steven Segal.

I agree with that but on the other hand, I'd be curious to know the politics of said studios. It really makes me wonder what goes on under the table when Sony is able to rally so many to its "cause" in order for them to grab a huge share of the royalties and try to circumvent the dvd forum, and with the PS3, actually steal the thunder of every single BR player manufacturer. There's got to be some real serious $$$ thrown in the mix here for all others in the BDA to ignore all that...

Andy Parsons reminds me of a puppet that ends up cutting its ropes when it realizes there's a better world out there.

Blu-ray has led Nielsen (actual sales) every week in 2007.

Sorry bud but these things go both ways. HD-DVD holds the record for the best selling title and HD-DVD is more than holding its own considering releases have just started flowing again. Plenty to cheer about for either side and as a dual supporter I do support these buy days to spark sales for both formats.

Actually they don't hold the record for the best selling title.

They hold the record for the highest rank at Amazon.com.

Blu-ray still holds the record for best selling title.
We will have to see how the disc does at other outlets and what Nielsen has to say about total sales for the disc.

You were talking Amazon.com numbers with your picture. I stand by my idea that both sides have plenty to cheer about. Both formats surviving will make me cheer.

Did you see me bring BR propaganda in your BR thread ? I can go crap thread there faster than you can wipe your butt so keep your BR mouth where it belongs, in the BR forum.

Mallrats will look real nice sitting next to Clerks 2 on my shelf. Can you say Joey Lauren Adams in the dressing room in HD?

Well Nielsen can say what he wants but lil stinky is just happy as a lark with Blu and Red disc on his shelf. I decide if I want to take the blu or red pill everyday at my house. One thing is for sure, come May 22 I will be taking the red pill all day long!

I swear, one more word from him here and I'm heading to the BR thread and rub some of Krinkle's poop in their face.

Krinkle is just trying to get a rise out of us. He is one of the biggest BR fanboys as of late. I just choose to laugh at him.

Shrinkle is thread-crapping all over HD DVD threads and reminds me of a disappointed spoiled kid that didn't see his favorite team win and throws a tendrum.

I just ordered nine from Amazon:

Breach
Harsh Times
Sneakers
The Thing
Out of Sight
Sahara
Blood Diamond
Meet Joe Black
Midnight Run

Also I ordered two used from half.com:

Superman: The Movie - $14.99
Babel - $14

I know these last two won't be counted toward the Amazon buy or even the Nielsen numbers, but I couldn't resist the prices!

I've ordered hundreds of used DVDs from half.com, some for as little as 79 cents, and I've rarely been disappointed.

They can blaber all they want but I don't see BR's Planet Earth getting anywhere close to #4 the way we did with the HD DVD version...

Good job on the Planet Earth choice, it's keeping it up way up there.

To put it another way, our title is still NUMERO UNO! You need to spin these things like Krinkmeister does.

Ordered:
Last Samurai

Pre-Ordered:
Sneakers
Being John Malkovich
I ordered 2 titles earlier today, and just added Breach to my earlier order.
Already ordered Smokey and the Bandit back on the 15th and the Raod Warrior the week prior to that...not a big fan of the online buy, but you can bet on tues I'll be picking up Eternal Sunshine and Nutty Professor at BB - might not help this cause of Amazon stat pimping, but I just want new flicks. =)
