Museum of Low Resolution

Hey check out this site made to show the evolution on HD video as we know it. Neat idea BDA.

http://www.blu-ray.sony-europe.com

The flash-based interactive website is designed to showcase the capabilities of Blu-ray by imagining a world where low-res television is a distant memory, worthy of its own museum. Needlesstosay, in Sony's vision of the future, there is only one high-def disc format, and that format is Blu-ray.

Visitors to the site can tour three virtual exhibits: "Time Tunnel," "The Science Room," and "The Art of HD." All three rooms look at a series of fictional events leading up to the development of high-def disc, but "The Art of HD" room would seem to be the heart of the project, visually explaining the Blu-ray disc format through various interactive exhibits, ranging from a giant TV sculpture demonstrating the disc's resolution power, to a robotic arm sculpture highlighting its storage capacity.

Yeah, they've been hinting at it since the beginning. Now we need a set release date.

LoA. This is the most concrete LoA BD I've seen so far, but still no firm date.

Funny but still mild as far as propaganda goes.

My guess : the pink laser trying to take over the world was a subtle dig at the original HD DVD plan to stick to red lasers before they had to move to blue laser but stuck with the same pit structure of DVDs, yielding a 3x increase in density while others figured out how to get 5X (and above).

I thought it was interesting that they never mentioned any of the failed/superceded Sony formats....

Is it just me or was the whole presentation so dark it was like being in a bad horror flick?

Yeah. why don't "The Time Line" show .. Betamax -> MiniDisc -> UMD -> BluRay?

Seriously, it's pretty wierd and not very informative. I would prefer they used the money to get BD-J ready 6 months ago.

I thought this thread was going to have a disappointing review of "Night at the Museum".

Hehe. I thought this was a Night at the Museum review too, but despite the blatant propaganda, it's worth sitting through just for the Lawrence of Arabia footage. Yum!!!

Im a BD guy, but I must say that site sucks. First off, you have to load the loading screens. Its very conveluded, and Often I dont understand what its trying to tell me, for example, pink ray. They shouldnt try to be so cute.
