The point to remember, CinemaScope is supposed to be 2.39:1. Yet most titles are credited as either 2.35 or 2.40. Lists have been generated, but nothing really cover all CinemaScope titles as there is a wide variance...

It seems like a ton of HD releases are. In fact, looking through my (small) collection, it's really a question of what isn't 'scope, because 80% of them are. (Edit: These are either 2.35 or 2.40 -- either way fits on a CIH screen with just a little letterboxing or overshoot.)

Oh, and I think we should split it up by SD-DVD and Hi-Def titles.

Few except WSR actually measure the output AR of media. Their work shows that even scope ARs are all over the map from 2.4:1 to 2.20:1. I don't think ,other than WSR that you could compile an accurate list unless we get a tape out on each title as they do.

Some on the list above, like Sky Captain are 1.78:1 and Grand Prix 2.2:1 not 2.35:1.

What is printed on the case is often inacccurate. Example : Night at the Museum says 2.35:1 and it is actually 1.85:1.

Art

I always check IMDb first for the OAR for the movie, even though it's not always listed.

Then I check http://www.dvdcompare.net/index.php for the different DVD editions, the most comprehensive search engine for technical specs. for DVD.

I'm sure they would appreciate help to keep the list up to speed for new releases.
Nice hobby for those that like to make movie lists and disc breakdowns.

I didn't take the question to mean, what exactly is cinemascope/2.35:1, but what movies are wider than 16:9 that would take advantage of a constant-height screen that is 2.35:1 or around that figure. If you wanted to list only scope films, then you get into the morass of what exactly constitutes cinemascope, and if you should include matted super 35 in that list. To me, wide is wide, no matter how it was shot.

Did they pull a 'Lord of War' and crop "Night at the Museum"? The trailer measures 2.39:1, and it looks like it was framed for it.

It was 1.85:1 in the theater where I saw it.
