I think Richard meant the VP-4001. It is a rebadged Sharp 3000.

Yes there is a SR & VP 4001. being that hes talking about a proj, i believe he meant the VP. It is a solid entry level Marantz receiver.

Bob, I understand where you're coming from, but if you did a head to head on the Sharp, you would see they are similar but definitely different machines, Marantz puts a lot of time and effort into the product it puts out. It's not just merely a sticker and different box.

Richard - Contact a local Marantz dealer and ask for a demo if you're interested!

Thanks guys!

I am a Marantz and Sharp dealer and have done a head to head. They are identical right down to the menus and service menu, download the manuals for each and you will see they didn't even rewrite the manuals. A couple of the factory defaults might be a little different but that is it. I usually love Marantz products but I see no advantage of this over Sharp, unless you prefer silver

Ps. The Marantz version does come with a better warranty of 3 years vs 1 year for the Sharp. That is worth a few hundred more (street price) to some people.

We are a local dealer for it, just never looked at it.

And user comments are much better to read than whatever I could test the projector in the world of 3000 and less projectors.
