Put content on VHS tape to DVD???

I have some recorded shows on VHS tapes that I would like to put on DVD.
I was thinking I could connect my VCR to my PC some how, then burn to the HDD. Then put it on DVD. Does that work?
Thank you
(sorry for not searching)

I've done that before.
You need a PC video capture card with composite video input and stereo audio input from the VCR, plus good video capture software that can encode into MPG2 for DVD format. You also need a DVD burner drive and media - there are several types: DVD+R,+RW, -R,-RW.
Then you need software that can create the DVD compatable format layout and then software to burn DVDs.

I use an ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder video card that also has video capture and they include ATI software that can capture and encode directly to MPG2 DVD-compatable format. I use TMPGenc DVD authoring software and Nero DVD/CD burning software.

Thank you Joxer
Are there any other ways to do this?

An alternative without a PC is to get a standalone DVD recorder, that works like a VCR and you could connect the line outputs from a VCR to the line inputs on the DVD recorder.
